Call of Duty is one of those franchises that no longer needs to prove its popularity. While the long-awaited reboot of Modern Warfare II is about to land on consoles and PC on October 28, it's on mobile platforms that the shooter is currently popular. The battle royale Warzone will soon have its own mobile version, and this one should not lack success considering the performance of its predecessor.
Call of Duty Mobile was released on smartphone in 2019 and offers an experience very similar to the gameplay offered by the online modes of the franchise's main games. The popularity of these modes adapted to a free-to-play, take-anywhere version could only be a success for Activision Blizzard. As a result, the title has risen to the top of the charts alongside other behemoths of the mobile market like Genshin Impact and Asphalt Racing. And of course, such a success implies significant revenues.
Call of Money
Since its release in 2019, the title has been downloaded by over 300 million users. With about 136,000 downloads per day for three years, the studio is raking in about $859,000 per day from its game. That's an average of $5.8 million per week, or $25.8 million in revenue over the last 30 days.
Thus, in only three years, Call of Duty Mobile has managed to bring in no less than a billion dollars for its studio. A real cash cow for Activision, it's not surprising to see the franchise continue its expansion on mobile platforms. The new version of Call of Duty Warzone should have no problem reaching such records in the years to come when we see the success of the first version on consoles.
