Markus Persson - also known under his nickname "Notch" - has earned worldwide success with the indie-hit "Minecraft". In order to spend more time on other projects and games, Persson decided to resign and therewith to give up his position as main developer of his blocks-game. Already in April last year the time had come: with 0x10c - an open world game with shooter elements taking place in space - the Swede announced to work on his newest project. However, he has stopped developmental work after a year due to a creative break, which is the reason why a possible release date postponed even further at this time. Persson now announced in a livestream what has already been assumed by his followers: the development on 0x10c is going to be abandoned in its entirety. There is no information about any reasons or concerns yet, but the Minecraft-founder has already said in the past that he would like to focus on rather smaller projects again as he used to.
That his undone game is going to get picked up and continued by another person has not been excluded by Persson, as there still are plenty of other developers working in Mojang game studios. Many fans were disappointed because of mentioned announcement during the livesteam - however, there is one or another user who would like to make some contribution to 0x10c and go on board with developers. There is still a glimmer of hope.
What do you think about the decision of Minecraft-founder Persson? Could you imagine, that this yet undone game is going to get released one day thanks to developers and/or fans who carry on the developmental work?
