Developed by Naughty Dog, a company owned by Sony, the game is a PS3 exclusive. Just like the Uncharted series, this game is heavily pot driven, with fully complete characters, personalities and a deep and immersive storyline.
The story takes place twenty years after a deadly virus destroys almost all of mankind. Humanity is falling apart, so is the government and the military. The remaining military force has created safe havens for those who are uninfected, but that does not last long, as the military starts breaking up, supplies start running low, and people slowly fall into a panic.
The story follows two main characters, Joel, who is said to be a broken up "jack of all trades" in his mid 40's, doing everything he can to survive. Broken up by the apocalypse, he lives on the edge of his humanity.
The second character is Ellie, a girl that has been ordered to be smuggled out of the quarantine zone she was born in (by Joel).
The two find themselves in constant danger, weather it's running into scavengers that are not afraid to kill anyone in sight, or the infected, who have become the scourge of humanity.
Sony had demonstrated a short gameplay demo in their conference. You can see the game has absolutely stunning visuals, and a highly intuitive and brutal gameplay system. (Also, as the few of us noticed, it has been a long time since we've seen a health bar in a shooter of any kind.)
