[HELP] how can i let my co-PM to access my db?

can someone help me with my problem? I cant let my co-PMs access the db. Its says cant connect to my IP. or what's wrong? can someone give me an easy guide? =)

Ok if you want someone to connect to your database. This is only for Nacivate.
1. You will need the person Ip address
2. Open up Navicate
3. Connect to your database you wish them to have access to (example it might says localhost)
4. Go to manage users
5. Go to add users
User Name - Put what you want here
Host - put the person Ip address in here
Password - put what you want here
confirm password - same as the one above
6. Hit ok
7. Find the username from the list to the left and give them access to all or what you want them to have
OK THIS PART IF FOR THE PERSON TRING OT CONNECT TO YOUR DATABASE
1. Open navicate
2. Click on connections
Connection Name - you can leave this blank if you want
Host name/IP address - put in the ip of the server your tring to connect to
Username - put in the username they made for you ( will be the same one as Line 5. from above you made.)
Password - put in the password they made for you ( will be the same one as Line 5. from above you made.)
3. Hit Test connection If everything done correctly it should say connect successful.

sometimes you might have to restart your mysql, go to cmd prompt and type in net stop mysql and then wait a bit and type net start mysql or how ever else you started it

if agian that did not work, make sure your doing the steps correct

If the above instructions don't work at all
Use this as a LAST RESORT ONLY!

1. Go to navicat
2. Open the connection to your db.
3. Click manage users.
4. Click add user and fill up the fields:
User name: anything you want
Host: leave it blank
Password: password you want
Confirm password: retype your password.
Click ok.
5. Click on the user you just made and click select all and then save.
6. The user is now given privilege to your db.

For the user to connect to your db.
This is for the one who wants to connect to the db!
1. Open navicat.
2. Click connection
3. Fill out the fileds
Connection name: anything you'd like
Host name/Ip address: IP address of the host
Port: 3306
Username: the one made by the host
Password: the one made by the host
4. Test connection, if its successful click ok. If not redo the steps.

you kidding right? thats exactly what they posted, you just made it alittle simplier to read....

some times you just need to restart mysql to get it to register with the new users

There's a huge difference.
This grants anyone access to the db as long as they know the host's ip, username and password.

Its to be used a last resort when the previous instructions doesn't work.
Some ips are dynamic so they change from time to time.
So you'll need to change the users ip from time to time.
Static ips don't have a problem with the previous instructions.
