[Guide] Twin Tornado Barbarian

Greetings,

Diablo 3 – Twin Tornado Build
Barbarian

1. Introduction
2. Attributes
3. Skills
4. Gameplay Guide/Video

Introduction

This is in my opinion the funniest Diablo 3 spec i yet have created, it even beats the Demon Hunter Tanking spec. And this is because of these four main reasons:
  • Your survivability is extreme, surviving even the hardest combos from Elite packs such as Desecrator + Fire Chains + Molten or any other combination even with a resistance of only 800 at ActIII/IV.
  • Your mobility suits you perfect, running with 60% increased movement speed 100% of the time in Combat of elites/bosses giving you the best kiting possibilities.
  • Control imparing effects is no longer af problem for you when fighting elites, you are immune. (Frozen, Jailer, Nightmarish, w/e.)
  • Damage, don't worry about it. You can easily keep up 35-50k Damage Per Second, wether you fight a single target or multiple targets, each target will be hitted for that amount of damage.
So this build offers you the probably best overall build yet discovered.

Attributes

Basicly the gear is based on two main stats and four minor stats. The main stats are Critical Hit Chance and Life on Hit, and the minor stats are Strength, Vitality, Resistance and Critical Hit Damage. The priority goes like this:

Critical hit Chance >= Life on Hit > Resistance > Critical Hit Damage > Strength = Vitality

This priority means that Critical hit Chance is the most important stat, though only until it hits around 45%, then Life on Hit is the second most important stat till around 1600-2000. Then resistance is the most important and then comes our Crit damage due to our high crit chance, and Strength and Vitality should be balanced over all your items. Armor is also a good pick, and if the armor increases your reduced damage by more than the additional resistance you can get, it is worthwhile to consider that over some resistance.

Its good to have an amulet with Life on Hit and Crit hit Chance, i use the Legendary OUROBOROS amulet and i can strongly recommend it due to its farely priced, it has a high amount of Life on Hit and a decent amount of crit chance usually 4-5%, also mostly a high amount of strength. You would like a Dual-Wield(DW) Build, by using 2x 1h weapons each having a minimum of 700 Life on Hit and a socket. Your mainhand weapon must be either a mace or an axe, you will get more informations about why this equipment are so important for this typical build in the skills section.

Explanation

Goblin/Bad Luck
  • Bash ' Instigation
Bash is a hard hitting attack and with the rune Instigation you generate a large amount of Fury, it is very useful in places where you might run out of Fury because you got stuck, blocked, lagged or missclicked a hotkey. It is also a good skill against goblins, cause they are fleeing in most situations which makes your Whirlwind and Sprint ”useless”.
Main Attack/Life on Hit
  • Whirlwind ' Hurricane
Whirldwind is your main attack, it is exceptional in keeping up your life with Life on Hit and it deals out an incredible nice amount of AoE damage. Also makes it possible for you to step through enemies. With the rune Hurricane you are able to run at your actual run speed, making your Sprints Tornadoes process faster and easier.

One might think that Wind Shear would be a better pick, because it generates 1 Fury per enemy struck and this build is all about Fury generation. But your chances of getting a tornado is minimal because your run speed is reduced. Tornadoes hits faster than WW which means more crits which means more Fury!

Survival
  • War Cry ' Impunity
War Cry is a must have skill and should allways be up in Combat, not only does it increase your armor, it also generates Fury. Must be used with the rune Impunity to increase your resistance. More resistance means better survival. Do not enter combat fights against elites/bosses when you aren't buffed by it and its on cooldown.
DPS/Fury Pool
  • Battle Rage ' Into the Fray
Battle Rage is very important, this is what keeps up your ”Fury Pool” because with the use of the rune Into the Fray each time a critical hit strikes you generate 15 Fury. And with a minimum of 45% Crit Chance that is very often especially because your Tornadoes from your sprint and your hits from your whirlwind hits so often that in less than a second you have done like 15-20 crits on just one target – the more targets the better and easier it is to keep up Fury. It also increases your Damage by 15% and your crit chance by 3%

Battle Rage should be casted right before you enter a fight if its not already active and needs to be hold up at all time you are in combat. If you however miss it for some odd reason, use Bash to generate Fury and cast battle rage again.
DPS/Fury Generation/Life on Hit
  • Sprint ' Run Like the Wind
Sprint must be up as much as possible doing combat and if you time it right, it will stay up 100% of the time. It is as important to keep it up as any other skill in this type of builds. Not only does it increase your movement speed by 40% which makes it an effective kiting skill it does also with the rune Run Like the Wind deal a high amount of DPS and also keeps up your Life as well as Fury because of the massive amounts of hits. When in a combat fight, sprint should be used everytime its at around 1/4 not before and not after unless your in a fight with alot of mobs at the same time where your Fury generation is higher than against bosses/single targets.
DPS/Crowd Control Immunity
  • Wrath of the Berserker ' Thrive on Chaos
Wrath of the Berserker is a badass skill for this type of build, not only because it increases your DPS and Crit chance but also because you become immune to Control Imparing Effects such as Frozen, Jailer and Nightmarish. Thank god that we have the rune Thrive on Chaos - because each time 25 Fury is generated, you generate another second to the skill. And due to its increased crit chance and its increased run speed it will generate even more Fury than without, this makes it a never ending skill that caus a fight to be as easy as counting to 3.

In many cases where the fight is long due to ekstra health and life link or multiple elite packs at once you can even outcome the cooldown and recast it right away. Or if a large amount of mobs like in act III/IV is in your path, Sprint will keep it alive for you till the next fight of a pack. Have in mind tho that it only generates 1 second as long as there is Fury to generate, so if your heading for a new fight using sprint only it is not enough to be spent and generated, therefor cast Battle Rage once everytime you get full on Fury while searching for new fights.
Passives
  • Ruthless
Its pretty easy to understand why this Passive is so important. Yes you guessed right, due to the 5% increased crit chance.
  • Weapons Master
Weapons Master is the reason to why you need a 1h Mace or Axe in your mainhand, 10% increased crit chance is just to good to miss. If you however can't afford a new weapon and you got another 1h with LoH, don't worry your not completely out of luck. The better pick if you don't have a Mace or Axe is Animosity because of fury generation.
  • Nerves of Steel
Nerves of Steel is your last pick. As mentioned earlier, more armor ain't bad and a 100% increased armor should not be replaced with any passives.
Gameplay Guide/Video

Single Target

Single target is the hardest for this type of builds. In order to keep up your Fury Pool and Life Pool up follow the steps below.

1. Cast War Cry
2. Cast Battle Rage
3. Attack one or two times with Bash
4. If your fighting a boss cast Wrath of the Berserker, if not skip this and move on to step 6
5. Attack one time with Bash, unless you already got enough Fury to cast sprint
6. Cast sprint
7. Run around the target in circles to spawn Tornadoes where they are standing, must be abit bigger circles than the actual targets diameter
8. When you gain more than 30-40% of your Fury, start using whirlwind while holding Sprint alive. Keep running the same path.

Below is a video of how to:

Multiple Targets

This is rather easy compared to the single target. Reasons for this because we at multiple mobs have a better chance of getting a crit and a higher amount of Life generation due to the additional amount of hits.

1. Cast War Cry
2. Cast Battle Rage
3. Attack one time with Bash or Use sprint
4. If target is Jailer, Frozen or Nightmaris cast Wrath of the Berserker else skip to step 5
5. Run around the target in circles to spawn Tornadoes where they are standing, must be abit bigger circles than the actual targets diameter
6. When you gain more than 30-40% of your Fury, start using whirlwind while holding Sprint alive. Keep running the same path.

Below is a video of how to:

Well written guide, i think that will help some players that want to try a tornado barb. You got a little typo at the attribute part:
Quote:
Critical hit Chance >= Life on Hit > Resistance > Critical Hit Chance > Strength = Vitality
The second Critical Hit Chance should be Critical Hit Damage i guess, you also describe that in the paragraph below the line. Another important thing with this build that should be mentioned is that your whole Sprint damage is based on your mainhand, so DPS on Offhand isn't as important as it is on Mainhand, you could get stuff like LoH and Crit Dmg over pure DPS on it as it only matters with Bash/WW. Also Attack Speed shouldn't be left out completely because the tornados benefit from AS.
