Banned from DayZ! No reason (really!)
OK, let's start with this: I'm not a cheater, never were and if I were I'd know the reason I'm banned and wouldn't ask for help, right? I was googling for help/info/support and found this forum and thought that maybe cheaters themselves can help. I have a discussion going on in Reddit too but so far it hasn't been too useful and has given birth to even more questions.
____
Anyways, first days of september I was playing in a very low-pop community server with my buddy. Had been there for past week. Exclusively. No other servers played during this time. At some point I started to get kicked out of server very often (BattlEye kick, client not responding). I assumed its because of relatively high ping (constantly around 180-220). Day before I got banned I was playing alone in the whole server, pretty much the whole day. This time it was really bad. Most of the time had the yellow chain, couple of times red chain and I was kicked out constantly. My buddy had no such problems, not before not later. He has somewhat lower ping but not much.
So, it was sunday 03. sept. when I played through pain. Several times the game just froze and kicked me straight to desktop. In the evening I logged off and put the PC to sleep. Monday evening come home from work and when I woke up the PC I had the message on screen that I was banned (You have been permanently banned in DayZ by BattlEye on behalf of dev).
WTF? Well, you guys haven't probably had this happened to you, so you maybe don't realize how stunned one may be - being banned for no reason. You know why you get banned and, I'm sorry to say, you deserve it and you know it yourself. It's your choice and voluntary risk. But not everybody deserves it. After 3600+ hours of smooth playing! Took some time to digest it and started googling the issue. Well, of course, first thing that pops up is "Open a dispute with BE". On the other hand I couldn't find any post anywhere that would say this has ever worked for anyone. Pretty much every experience told that BE won't do anything and won't even answer you. Lots of speculations over why is it happening (up to the point that random high-hour-count players get banned so that they'd buy a new copy. There we also call-ups for class-action lawsuits and all. No positive feedback whatsoever. Except that streamers tend to get unbanned for whatever reason that would be.
So, yes, I wrote to BE, described the situation and preceding problems with ping and related kicks. Even added the server admin's confirmation that he had seen on my side only unusually high ping and nothing else and admin's contact in case BE would like to ask confirmation (yeah, sure they will...)
Nothing. A week passed and nothing changed. BE itself says that final resolutions will be made within 72 hours. Otherwise you may just fuck off.
What is just ironic, is that BE states on its website that
No one is banned for using non-hack programs (like Fraps, overlays, etc.), picking up or using hacked in-game items, weapons or vehicles, being on a server at the same time as a cheater, or other passive non-cheating activity.
It's...like... spitting in the face! Like, hey, dudes! I FUCKNG know that I had nothing like that going on and you ban me and tell me that nobody gets banned unless he's actually cheating.... just hilariously insulting.
But ok, no help was coming from nowhere and so I decided to buy a new copy of the game because the ban message didn't mention that I have a HWID ban and as far as i know IP bans belong to the history alongside with Egyptian pyramids and such. Just in case, I first formatted my HD (well, actually just reinstalled Win), set up new Windows, made a fresh e-mail account with no connection to anything else and bought an international steam account with DayZ on it from G2A. Much cheaper that fresh copy although, if I knew it would work I wouldn't mind buying it "normally". Besides, my sons are also playing it with bought accounts for 2 years now and had no problems. Immediately changed email and passwords for the account and got playing on 09.sept.
Didn't have so much kick issues anymore but still kinda more than my buddy at the same time. Actually he had no kicks at all. Just high ping. But it was tolerable and so I carried on for about 2 weeks, until on 22.sept I was banned again. Just one day shy of two weeks.
The server I mentioned before had been on maintenance for 2 last days (admin was busy doing something else) and we played different servers meanwhile until yesterday evening I logged off and went to sleep, putting PC to sleep overnight. On 23.sept morning I woke PC up and...guess what! I was banned again. Message was the same as first time.
WTF is going on? What may cause such a shit? I really can't put my finger on anything that could cause it. Except that many redditors suspected high ping to be the culprit because it may cause anomalies that BE may see as teleportations and speed hacks.
The only common nominators between both instances seem to be ping, kicks and putting the PC to sleep. I have read many cases of bans and they usually seem to come mid-playing. Both of mine were probably hours after last session.
What could it be? Steam sec breach (although no account hacks seem to have happened, or that's what I assume - how could I check if there's any breach?) Ping-related anomalies?
I mean, ANYTHING at all what could cause it (besides really cheating)? I do not have ANY software that could be related to cheating. No hacks, no macros, no autokeys or whatever. Not for Dayz, not for any other game. I don't even have any other game on my PC. Well, except Solitaire and Minesweeper, I guess.
About other soft running during gameplay, I have Discord, usually some browser tabs, DZSALauncher (which I sometimes check for server population), Steam obviously and just usual shit that runs daily under Win.
I have heard of player report based bans which are usually given directly by game devs but I think I don't have that one cause BE is involved. Though, there may be players in that server who hate my ass for repeatedly erasing their "unbreakable super bases" but I'm not sure they even play in this server. The ones playing there seem to be much dumber and I also checked with the admin for any complaints of us being too good which there was none as he claimed.
As of now I have made another fresh Win installation and I'm planning to buy a new copy. This time straight from Steam to avoid some weird clause in TOS that shuns buying it from third party (although, I repeat, my sons have been playing with bought accounts from the same vendor for quite while now with no problems). But I just learned something about shadow bans and something about two weeks and I'm not sure what I'm looking at. If I reinstall all of my system, create a new account at steam, buy a new game with a different card and just in case reset my router to refresh my pubIP, may there be a shadow ban on me somehow? Is it related to my IP or HWID or something else? What is it with this 2 weeks? Do I have to wait for 2 weeks to buy a new game to be sure I wont get banned for third time? May I have a HWID ban? It didn't say anything about it but may it be? How do I know if I have it? How to bypass it? What the fuck should I do?
Any help or suggestions how to get over or around it?
Thanks.

Make sure that you are really BattlEye banned. It will show on your profile "Game Banned". If thats the case you can only contact BattlEye and ask for a review, but you will most likely not get a response back. Why you got banned? Who knows, maybe you had some tool such as Cheat Engine open.
If its not a BattlEye ban, only a server-ban then just play on other servers. If they put you on a banlist where you cant play on other community servers as well, you can either claim a review of your ban or change your IP, clean your steam files and try again.

You probably didn't read too carefully and I wont blame you because its really long but I mentioned it was a BE ban on behalf of the dev. And yes, my account (both of them) also shows it.

For the first one I contacted through appeal form and got no response. I explained the probable issue with ping and connection instability but i'm sure they just don't bother even reading the appeals.

Again, I said I had nothing. Not open, not closed. And I know it. Because I don't cheat: There CAN'T be any cheat-related software on my PC. I'm the only user of this PC. Exclusively. Yes, I have 12yo kid here on the same router and I talked to him and he admitted that maybe a year ago he tried something cheat-like in Overwatch (whatever it is, I'm an "old-timer", you know) and he got a warning but nothing else and didn't dare to try again. And as far as i googled right now OW isn't protected by BE, so it couldn't have anything to do with it.

Well, the message says it is a BE ban. The owner of the server I was playing knows my ban issue and has nothing to do with it, neither had he any problems with me, so its not a server ban.
The other one was also BE ban. Global. On behalf of the game dev. Showed it on my screen when i logged on PC and when i tried to log onto the game.
But, in conclusion, what bothers me most is how the hell could I get two bans in such a short time? I have read topics here and HWID bans seem to give a re-ban very quickly, like in hours. Mine took 13 days.
Was it just an unhappy coincidence that the other account with pre-purchased Dayz on it had been compromised or did BE/devs figure it out that it was a bought account? Or was it really all about the ping?
PS!
Someone somewhere claims that playing over mobile hotspot may cause it. I did try hotspot on the first day of the second account. Like for an hour, to see if i get better stats but didn't. Still, the second ban came 12-13 days after that. Right now I recalled that the phone i made hotspot with had my first steam account active on. Could it be that steam shared it's IP with BE wo concluded that my old and new account might have a common user?

Hello there,
I just saw your message from 2013, and I decided to create an account to reply to it. I'm in the same situation as you. I received a game ban on Steam for no reason 3,678 days ago. I was part of a French group that fought against cheaters in the game (rather ironic), and as far as I can remember, the ban happened when I wasn't even in the game.
It goes way back, and the only thing I remember about this story is that I logged into my Steam account on my cousin's computer during a family gathering, and after that, I instantly received the ban without launching anything or maybe I clicked 'Play,' but I'm sure the ban took effect instantly. I'm absolutely certain that he didn't have any cheat files or software that could alter the game experience, and the possibility of a 'ban for account sharing' can also be ruled out since it's just a VAC ban on DayZ.
I tried contacting Bohemia Interactive support multiple times, over different years, and they eventually told me to take it up with BattleEye support. But despite the 72-hour wait time, I got no response.
I remain in the dark because I still haven't received an answer as to what could have caused this, and I still have the bitter taste of the injustice that happened that day.
I would be happy to hear that the situation has improved for you and to know how it happened, if that's the case.
A French person in the same situation as you.

I followed your advice and contacted Steam to let them know I didn't receive any support from the anti-cheat or Bohemia.
Best regards.

Could you explain, why the **** would i deny it
1) if i need to find out the true reason of the ban
2) in a forum where literally everyone is a chater (and seemingly proud of it)?
____
PS! I can play again and haven't had problems for a year now. So, the question is outdated anyway.

You might have been caught in the crossfire of the exploit allowing anyone to ban whoever they want, that was released on another forum a couple of weeks ago. The developers of the game do sometimes manually ban people under very rare circumstances, I had my accounts manually banned on DayZ and Arma Reforger for using exploits for accessing admin tools and deleting bases on dayz. Tho I doubt it, you could have been banned accidently for something like that. Also some software might look like cheats on your system and battleye, tho rarely they may ban you on false evidence

Cant stop doing what i never started in the first place.
Look, i understand that you want to believe everyone else around you are the same lowlife cheater like you cause it hurts thinking that its possible to have fun in games without being a POS (which you all actually are - let's be honest!).

All i have ever done is duping something accidentally a couple of times due to unexpected server restart when it was still possible. And by "accidentally" i mean accidentally.
TBH i really think it was because of this period when my ping sucked and i may have seemed lag-switching. But fortunately its all a history and i hope it stays this way.
