The client does not support stacking items. That's a feature newer patches introduced.
You cannot (and should not) add features from newer clients into older ones. They will not work properly and will be hacked together at best even if you manage to get them to work.

There is no structured system in this source yet to handle quests. Earlier in the thread I described how I planned to handle it in the database so that it could be somewhat scalable. I do NOT recommend simply adding it to the character table and tracking kills of x monsters because it will get incredibly messy and will not scale as you add new quests and events.
This is something we will have to add before 3.0 as we want to have all of the events working before then (or at least all of the main game content) so I'd suggest you just wait it out if you are not confident in your ability to add it cleanly.
