OPEN BETA HAS NOW BEGUN
When will public beta start?
We have now started the first stage of public beta testing. The 'official' start date is tomorrow the 1st of september but we threw it online early so we can sort out any major issues that crop up before then!
What does beta mean for players?
Beta will consist of a full character/item wipe. All free item npcs will be removed from the game along with commands for normal players. We will then have them level and gear themselves as intended in our game plan
I hate leveling! Your server sucks!
Hellmouth has always been about creating a BALANCED environment in which players can feel safe working for gears. One of the main issues with private servers is they are incredibly volatile. You might spend a week leveling your character and the next, it's wiped or the server is gone completely.
I have personally paid for professional server hosting for this project for the last
TEN months. This project is not going away and your efforts will be safe.
That being said... many people like putting work into their characters (when they know it won't be lost) but don't like hunting monsters. Our server plans to take a
Three pronged progression approach to conquer. This means that you can chose how you want to level or gear your characters. Not all methods will get you the same items so mixing and matching between them is strongly encouraged but should never be fully required.
What is the three pronged approach?!
-Pvp Events
By taking part in (and winning) pvp events, players get experience (varies between events and if you win or not). They also will be gaining [U]honor points[U]. These will be used in our honor shop to buy certain items to help upgrade your character. They can be used by yourself or sold to players who might not enjoy pvp quite as much but have other items you might need. Items planned for the honor shop include...
-Medium range refineries and dragon souls
-Low level elite items
-Small + stones (+1-2)
We will be switching up the honor shop with special sale items. These sales will take place every few weeks and will add 1-2 items to the honor shop for a few days which players can take advantage of. Some of these items may even be unique in that there will be no way to get them besides saving up and waiting for them to go on sale! Yay bragging rights!
-Hunting
Everyone is somewhat familiar with hunting and normal monster killing so I won't go into great detail.
Hunting is a fantastic way to level up your character (quite quickly infact) and at the same time find some items that will serve you well in other fields (bosses/pvp matches). CPs can be gained from monsters near your level but NOT from low level monsters. This means CPs will not be farmed in massive amounts by high end archers who run around all day.
The twist with our CP system is that... they aren't really needed! Shopping mall has been significantly modified and will continue to evolve with the server. We want CPs to be useful but in no way rule the economy.
Any other server (including official tq servers) you go on has the mall ruling the game. Prices on items can not go above a certain point or players will just buy it from the mall. If players have enough CP they can max out their character almost instantly.
This is something we look to avoid. Massing cps will be useful to you in some way (they ARE valuable) but you will never be required to have cps while playing hellmouth.
Mall items will be based around helping you in LEVELING. This means that we will be selling Exp potions, blessing stones, lucky time stones, scrolls and alike inside the mall. We will also be including vanity items such as garments.
As with our honor shop, we plan to introduce special sales to the mall every few weeks (perhaps alternating sales between mall and honor shop, we'll see). These sales will introduce new and exciting uses for cps (some of which will be more gear related)
-Bosses
In hellmouth we want to take the excitement of boss fights to a new level. As part of this we've increased the sheer number of bosses in the game. All 'dura' mobs from original conquer have been converted into what we term 'minor bosses'. Minor bosses behave differently from normal monsters in a few ways. Namely they use skills and are far more difficult but they also poses unique rewards!
Boss monsters will ONLY give rewards to those who are similar or lower leveled then themselves. This means if you take your high end character and kill low level monsters you will not gain anything special.
When killing bosses with an appropriate level character, you will gain a full half exp ball for your efforts! They will also drop special and unique items to help you in your fights. These drops include plus stones, artifacts, refineries and more!
Bosses are on a 30 minute respawn so if you do kill them, they will not be coming back for a while!
World bosses (dragon, banshee and spook) have also been giving some attention! They now cannot truly be tanked. This means that players will need to team up to take on these beasts. You should not be finding many players who can take very low damage from these monsters and this is a good thing. These fights will be quite long and painful but the rewards will be worth it (much exp as well as some very nice drops)

I've had a number of people on the chat box complaining that the server is offline when they are simply using invalid servers. I know the issue is annoying and it will be fixed down the line.
