A bit late on that, why do everyone use this as an excuse? i'll give you an example:

If you saw a guy spittin into you cup and offering you to drink it. (You in this case)
Why would i drink it, you just spat in it? (Me or anyone else)
How would you know it's spit, if you haven't tried it? (You)
