A new year, a new start
Hello once again, did you have fun celebrating the new year? Did you meet someone new at midnight? Are you just as excited about this year as I am? Well, this year has a few meaningful events that are worth the short wait. This year brings back some great games back to life for a second chance, aswell as a few newer titles for us to enjoy.
So without further ado, let’s take a look at what this year has to offer!
Number one:
You know it, you love it, well you didn’t love that’s why it shut down… But thanks to GamersFirst, its back, better, cooler, and FREE!
APB:Reloaded Now it is still unclear when it’s going to go into any type of beta (though it’s fair to think that the people that bought it are going to get invited first). GamersFirst is a very thoughtful company and is updating us with every bit of info they can, they made an
where people can find all the newest updates, and other cool stuff about the game. Expect to see APB:Reloaded sometime this year. (Who knows, maybe we’ll be playing before summer?)
Number two:
Champions online overall a very fun game that lets you create your own hero, give him a name, give him awesome superpowers and design his appearance any way you like. Sadly the game did not attract the expected audience, Cryptic studios didn’t make a mistake, and decided to re-launch the game for free sometime this year. The first closed beta test was for subscribing members only, and the game should launch on the first quarter of this year.
Number three:
Vindictus:
Already released in Korea and North America, but not the EU, Vindictus was a real hit for those who got to play it. Vindictus has something that other games don’t, it runs with ,,VALVe’s” ,,Source” engine, that means that the game has a VERY powerful engine letting players pick up and use objects as weapons, see marvelous environments, and massive boss fights. The game has a huge flaw, all of the gameplay is done in instance dungeons, players are connected with a peer-to-peer system, that means if someone from the US connects with someone from the EU, “lag” is imminent. There is no solid release date yet, only a “coming soon” sign.
Number four:
DC Universe Online, what is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about DC comics? Super heroes? Right, join Superman, Batman and Robin and fight evil! Actually I have no idea if they are in the game, but they should be. The game already has a street release date, January 11, 2011 (I hope they can deliver). I think it’s a pay-to-play game, but it’s not a big surprise.
Number five:
Core Blaze (aka PROJECT CORE) If you love games like “Unreal tournament”, “Bioshock/2”, or “Grears of War” then you’ll notice what they all have in common… Yes. The UnReal 3 engine, Core Blaze appears to be made to compete with Vindictus and other “brawler” games. The will be releasing on 2011 Q3 (third quarter), it will be free and international. The game-world is inspired by Eastern mythology, there will be a total of four classes. The game appears to be quest driven (expect instance dungeons), and things like your level, your play-style and even the time of day will change the quest-line and the outcome.
Ok, so this is my top 5 most anticipated games of this year, a lot of them will use powerful game engines, meaning that you’ll need a powerhouse of a pc, so I think while we wait, we can save up for a new pc or some additional parts atleast. I hope you enjoyed this list, or at least I hope that you’ll enjoy the games! Don’t forget to save some cash!
Happy new year!
Conclusion: 2010 was a very rewarding year, but 2011 has even more to offer, however this is only a small fraction of everything that’s waiting for us. Remember game release dates may change, and this is my personal opinion.
