How to survive the First Night.
3 Section Guide
Okay, now you've just Hopefully bought the wonderful game Minecraft. You must be pretty dang proud of yourself for buying ;) the game. But wait, you keep dying on the fist night. Well if you read on you'll find out how to not only survive, but strive!
Section 1, First Things First
Well, when you first spawn the game will generate a whole load of breakable blocks earth. If you look down and click your left mouse key you will see cracks apper in the dirt or whatever ground type you are standing on. If you hold it down it will break and a floating part of that earth will be floating there, walk over it, and in your quick slots will be that element.
Now, use this how you like. But don't get to happy because night time comes in 10 minutes and we still have a lot to do.
First things you need to do it too locate a tree. They should be close unless your near water or desert. Once you find one. Break it down. It may take a while becuse you don't have a axe. But were going to get to that soon. Now after you chop down the tree go into your inventory (I key) and drag it from your quick slots into your inventory. Then next to your charactor there are 4 slots. Drag your wood into those. All of them. Then next to it is a single slot. You'll see a new image of a block on there with a number on it. That number shows how many of that block you've just crafted. Left click that until you cant get anymore of that block. Drag it into your inventoy and grab any left over wood from the 4 slot crafting section into your inventory. Now the blocks you've just crafted are crafted and can be used for a LOT of stuff. For now, were only going to use one of them. If you click the recently crafted wood planks into that crafting slots (4 slot), But this time right click. And do that in each 1 of those 4 slots untill each 4 slots have 1 plank of wood in them. now you should see what is called a crafting bench in the crafted box. Click that and drag it into your quick slots not your inventory. Then exit your inventory, use your scroll wheel on your mouse of number pad (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) to select the slot where you put your crafting bench into. Then once it's been selected it will show on your screen. Then place it down using your right click. Then right click the bench on the screen. And you will need to make a axe, pickaxe, shovel, and Sticks. The basic survival tools for daytime. (Refer to this site to craft those, [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]) After made. keep clicking on your crafting bench until it breaks, like a block of dirt of stone or sand. Don't worry. Now you should have it back.
Section 2, Coal
Now, You will need some coal. A main object in the Minecraft world. Used to make fires. Now go look for a cavern/Cave. And look for a gray stone with bits of black in them, Now coal is not rare but hard to find.
Once found Place your Crafting Bench down. Then make torches. (Use site said earlier). Now Grab those out of the single slot in the crafting bench and there you go. You've got torches.
Section 3, Base
Now, Players have different ideas about what kinda bases they like. For me. I go for a beach base. With a trap leading up to it. But trapping it advanced and wont be explained in this guide.
But for now a simple survival base is nessesary. So what you should do is start gathering up dirt/sand (This is for a above ground 1st night base)
and place it in a 6x7 square (Hollow) and build it up 4x. Then get the torches that you had made and put them inside and around the base. Make sure you leave a slot 4x up to make a entrance. If you want to go "fancey Shmancy" with a door be my guest and use the site I said earlier.
PS: if your near water make a moat. Helps prevent monsters from getting to your base.
PSS: Don't be a pussy make sure your not set to peaceful :L
