Custom Experience System

12/31/2010 14:55 12tails#1
Hey all ^^

I was thinking on a new Experience system for CO (my idea)..
As a good RPG player can see... the experience is based on a fix value foreach monster...

If someone already played for example Tibia.... the graphic sucks... but the game play is one of the best that i've already seen...

for example i was thinking that makes the mobs with no Level or level 150...
that doesn't matter... just to get the mobs name all the same on any level...

and for example the Pheasants give 8 Exp (like rats on TIBIA)

and make that 8 exp being change by a ExpMultipler (server rate)
and base it on the character level a few... for don't get a few bugs...

thinking on that... make me remember a thing as well ...

I am not doing a private server to be like real conquer (real co sucks in many stupid features or things... the real co for me end at 1.0 version...)

i want some advices of experienced coders .... shall it be good? make the game more like a RPG....

Cya later!

Conquer Online and the most good private servers have already a difrent level exp reward.
Because how higher you get the more exp you need ;)

I think its stupid to make a level 8 monster give the same exp for a level 150 monster
At first the level 150 monster should have higher, hp, mp or attack damage then the level 8
This is just logical so i am not sure what your trying to say.

The leveling system in Conquer Online isnt a problem its a good leveling mmorpg system so i am not sure what you want to change about it?

Just a advice if you want your Private-Server to be more mmo-RPG.
You should make more qeusts and some good rewards for them instead of hunting or farming.

Conquer Online was never a real RPG it has been always a leveling/pvping game.

lol... i know that... but like you can see... i don't want to make a Conquer Online Private server based on real TQ Games....

you can use the features and all... but to make something different.... and yes i have quests to do...

So instead of fighting mobs your level, you can sit in the pheasant spawn for easy leveling?
12/31/2010 21:07 12tails#5
nope... cause the exp would be to low to level you...

Kinda interesting idea but I'd focus a bit less on the exp system (as it's already kinda what you are talking about...) and more on how you wish to change conquer and then write tools that will help you make those changes (Map creator, quest creator, skill creator... save you ton of time writing tools to make it easier) and then focus on those changes first.

If you think about it... monsters already give you a set amount of exp each... you simply get a bit more for killing mobs higher level than yourself and significantly less for killing mobs too low level... the only difference is that exp is dmg based vs kill based

This system removes the exploitable factors significantly as if I do 99 pct dmg and then you kill a mob You get full exp?... or vice versa... what's to stop a high level from lowering a mob to almost no exp and then finishing it off with a noob char and getting mass exp.

I'm not saying for a second that it's not something that could be coded properly *cough* WOW *cough* but it seems kinda pointless as this system is already in place.

If I were you I'd focus on making easy content creation tools and start adding in new maps, mobs and quests to take much of the strain away from mob grinding and add storylines, quests and that sort of a thing if you truly want to create some form of a rpg element to conquer (or w/e game you make using it's base).

I'd considered doing a ton of this sort of stuff earlier... starting zones (possibly instanced) where players would do simple quests to learn the basics and get their first few levels and get some starting gear... Tq eventually added the equipment bonus quests though so my idea was kinda less important (although also less entertaining... no missions to set up an actual storyline for the game lol!)

Thanks for your advice ^^

i've some of those tools for make easyer to edit or add something even at the source for it be a MySql based...

and i want ask you something important... When you create a character now.... the client connect right after it... but when i create the login screen stop at "Your character has been created successfully".... and i've to close and open to connect again... is there a new packet for it or just need to send a msg?? your help would be great...

thanks in advance and happy new year for all :D

That message should be the packet :)

It would be much cooler if you didnt start as a class but had to do like a qeust to become one.. each class would have hes own (story-line)qeust...

^-^

Well, Tibia's got that. You start of being a rookgaard player and you can train any skills, like sword fighting, a ranger ( paladin ) using distance fighting and when you reach level 8, you can choose to go to main and choose between 4 different classes all having their own abilities and special things + you can also choose which city you want to be a citizen off and when you die, you will respawn in that city untill you decide to change ur homecity. If you are going to quest, you really need help from Knights or Paladins. If you don't, the quest won't work. And the threadstarted doesn't mean that you will keep fighting the same monsters and just getting more experience depending on your level, but he meant to say, that it's very Conquer alike, you just start off by killing rats of level 1 and after that you need to go to Bugs and Wolfs for example which give you 18 exp instead of 5 exp.

@ 12tails - I'd love to see that in a server. I'd also love to see a lot of quests like CTF but not these shitty servers that give you 20k CPs each vote, you need to earn your money just like real conquer and Tibia. I wish Epic CO would still be online, it was a low rate server with very good host and nice events like Last Man Standing and Capture The Flag. It was actually made by Hadeset ( Tanel ) .
Anyway, VERY good sharing of your idea mate. Thanked you for it.

I have much and much more ideas but to bad i am not a coder and my ideas are to big sometimes,
yeay i know Tanel i have him somewhere in my list, i though he died though :D.

I wished this idea could be impletend somewhere:

-Map : PK Zone (Terrortium) ''HUGE MAP''

Rules:

1). 2/3Hours a day there is a event where Guilds can fight over a terrorium, some terroriums will have beter recourses

2). These recourses can be used for Defence systems, Upgrade Guild points and more.

3). Defence systems you can build like defence traps, monsters that fight for your guild

4). It should be a free-pk zone where everyone can be attacked except friendly-fire

5). Taking over a terrorium should be done by other guilds that invade/attack and destroy the statue placed by the other guild

6). The area(map) should contain some dangours monsters and areas so walking alone is stupid

7). Guilds should be able to start a Alliance(friendly guilds)

8). There should be like 20/15 recoures or more depends how many players play.

- This will make the Community in your game be more Fun, Guild-Based, more working together, more partys and more numbers of Guilds.
- People love to work together or play together in MMORPGS thats why they play it
- Conquer is lacking this.. by this idea there is a way to introduce it inside conquer.
- Sorry for the poor english i'm on my mobile-phone.

That's a pretty nice idea Lizziox. But, monsters attacking on your side, that would make it really hard, since you would first need to kill the monsters, and while doing that, the people defending the statue can kill you.

Lets say guild (The freaks) have 3 resources places

-There defence can be lowerd by these ways:

1). Guild (The freaks) are going to attack other places that means you can outnumber there defence

2). Guild (The freaks) need to protect 3 places in one time so there defend-members and defend-monsters will be outnumberd

3). Guild (The freaks) can be attacked by a alliance (friendly fleets joining up forces to take-over)

4). A experienced person can take down 5/6 players

- Playing this Terrtorium needs strategy and not outnumbering a other guild.

Yeah, you better be on MSN quickly! :pimp:
Just keep us updated and maybe make a thread on Epvpers about the source and the what-to-do list?
