Setting up SQL in win7

Hello

I've been trying to set up the 2005 sql server in windows 7. First with the express version using the guide written by Wrecke (though I never get to pick instance) and it doesn't work due to some connection error.

Just to mention, I'm using Win7 home premium 64-bit.

After that I tried to 2005 original version with sp3 installed to make in win7 compatible. That didn't work either, as user "Shaiya/shaiya" can't log in on SQL Authentication. I just wonder if anyone got any idea to make it work or a better suggestion on what program to use?

Thanks
Mio

Hi guys just follow this wonderful video tutorial [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

And VERY IMPORTANT use SQL server download provided on that post and no other (64 bit version if it is your case)

I have windows 7 64-bit as well and I have no problems running the server so you can do it also =)

Ok, I got it to all green pause signs now. So far so good. But now I ran into the common problem of services going on for 10 secs and then pause again.

Anyway, ncromancer, where is your error? Maybe I can help since I got it almost up and running :)

Been experimenting for a few hours now. It seems that on Win7, the standard version doesn't work due to lacking IIS features required for that version. So I finally got express up and running perfectly.

Now to the next issue, I can't edit my game.exe to make it able to connect to my server (running ep3 client). No matter what I do it still connects to the official updater... Anyone got any ideas? Been looking around in here and I didn't find anything that worked, though I may have missed something somewhere.

Make sure you create a shortcut of the exe with "start game" after the target without the quotes, or it will run the updater and the updater will patch the exe back to OS IP addresses.

Yo.
Good that it almost works for u im still stuck at the SQL server 2005
I cant get it installed correctly so i can use install server.bat.
I everytime get errors and i dont understand how to install it correctly then..
Dunno Nevak or Miolandra one of you maybe got skype so u might be able to use TeamView and install it for me?
Would be really awsome ;)
Or msn can also.

Peace Cya

New errors..

Seems the Gameguard is still active on ep3 and it tells me game hack found. Tried to work around it but no success. I decided to update the client all the way since GG were not used later.

Data load error (since I'm running zerosignals ep3 on the serverside)

So if I want to run a ep5 server then, one that works with the up-to-date official client, what ep5 shall I download then?

And yes, I've been looking around but I guess I'm just bad at finding what I'm looking for, sorry for that.
