Hero id

I'm still sitting on my hunger for knowledge.

the question or remark was made several times about the msg on the debug folder but sofar no real answer

Got a player with hero id! 123457 -- Mon Jul 02 18:14:43 2007

1) I doesn't appear when you login a char, it can happen a while later
2) the id refers to a specific char
3) It happens more often on specific chars alltough u don't play them that often
4) I don't believe it is coincidence that the msg is in the debug folder, there has to be a raison why the msg is there

Main question remains, what is it used for
Side question if anyone has Chinese CO, do they have the same message and what is it called: 'Got a player with hero' could be freely translated from Chinese to English, maybe the correct translation makes more sense (if there is another one)

bump

Does no one have a clue what it stands for???

That i am pretty sure is just that specific chars id and whenever you set up hotkeys and what not it saves it to your conquer folder, try making a new char you will have another hero id number as of now nothin special about it that i know of

Well the id is indeed linked to a specific char.

The char info is kepted in C:\Program Files\Conquer 2.0\log\Server_Name\123456789, here are the details with hotkeys etc

The hero id msg comes every now and then and only for some chars

Well, usually I hate bumping old threads, and I hope I will be forgiven ...
I'd like to add one thing to this last year's discussion:
The "hero ID" that is mentioned in the debug file isn't identical with the specific numbers for each char in the "log" folder.
Are there any more news on that topic?

Each player has there own ID. Sunfer is referring to another player in game.

Have you even read this thread??? This isn't about the player ID that is in your log Folder or about Sunfer, who is removed anyway.
Better read things before posting crap.

@Jalan_Jalan
No, I just post replies to stuff randomly. Firstly it has everything to do with player ID, not your ID but other players in the game. Secondly I mentioned Sunfer because I believe it was a message that was suppose to tell you, you located a character who you requested to 'hunt'. I could be mistaken but that is what I believe it's referring to. Also there is a graphic called 'hero', its that blue image you see on your map. Hence why I assume Hero ID in this case is referring to other players or 'heroes' not your character. Because why would you locate yourself? Now during the time this post was made Sunfer was alive and well and enjoying the breeze in TC. So next time before you go posting crap and flaming others, do some logical thinking about what it could be. This is my opinion on what it was g-co was referring to. I do not have any logs similar to him so I cannot confirm my theory, nor will I be able to. Now if you can in the upcoming months provide this same error then it was something else and I may provide further opinions at that time. Hope this clarifies my 'crap post'.

@Chris

Thanks for replying. Your post clarifies things, though you have to admit that your first post might seem off topic.
Anyway.
I don't think it refers to Sunfer because
1. I have only accepted a bounty like once or twice, bot have gotten a lot more of those messages in my debug logs.
2. Last time I got that debug log message was Jan. 8., when Sunfer was gone.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten the message since I'm trying to investigate.

@ all: Please, look in your log files in debug folder. Are there similar messages? Is there a preferred time for them to occur. At login or after?

Ok, I have made some further research on this and I'd like to post the results.
I have written a little macro that checks the debug file and notifies when it is changed.
So far I found:
  • You don't get a "hero ID" message on log in, but sometime after.
  • From statistics, more than 50% of the hero ID messages happened at "full hours" plus/minus 5 minutes.
  • One event that triggers a "hero ID" is joining a guild, though I also get them when not doing this.
  • Chars that are in Market / TG are less likely to get one.
  • The memory adress where the ID that is mentioned in the debug file is stored is 04eb674.

Any ideas?

Great idea! Keep up the research a bit longer and post the stats?

I will. I will be spamming ametscroll with a char when it gets hero ID, without lucky time. Well, I've done this 3 times so far, no socket, but 30 mets is not really much, I'll keep on trying.
