On the server go Vps no offizele files. It will only Caali files and even then only go about 20 players on it. Xampp is too. But on a Linux Vps is nothing. Then buy one with Windows.

C++ doesn't need Windows.

i don't have a linux-system, but the Program "WINE" can simulate an Windows
so you can play flyff on it (with WINE).
i think that it's the same with die server files, that you need wine.

If xou can get an linux rootserver there is a option.
You can install a VirtualMachine like VirtualBox, QEmu or VMware. Or try to setup a Xen-Host using Debian.

I've done it several times using VBox with a small win2k3 server or Windows XP Pro as GuestOS in an headless installation(no Desktop, only RDP). If you choose Xen, then u have to look for Windows installation images that are optimized to work on a linux host(xen-kernel).

But in general, you can say that the official serverfiles don't run on linux itself. Even if you are using Wine, CX, Cedega, Mono or whatever.

If you ar using a linux rootserver then prefer Debian or Ubuntu with Oracle's VirtualBox. If your linux skills are goodlike, you can try Gentoo (because of its preformance).

The XAMPP(web) stuff can be simply hosted on any linux-server. But i'll prefer installing apache, PHP and the needed modules manually, because of security issues. but if you're not very good in the administration stuff, there is a XAMPP-build for linux, sometimes it's called LAMPP.

hope this helps...
