How to pick up an item

How to pick up an item when somebody is sitting on it? I saw people do that. Like i saw something and jumped on it, but it doesn't picks up yet, other char sit the same as me on the item and pick it up, but how??!! the shift screen technique.
lets say someone is sitting on an item. you gotta shift screen your character so it will be in one of the 4 corners. you keep on jumping/running in the corner direction and wait until the person sitting on the item disappears and the item will be the only thing on your screen. just click on the item, dont jump to it, let it pick it up by itself.
