Hey I just wanted to say great guide. This information is all over the internet so it's nice to see someone put it all together in one simple file/place. I was wondering if anyone on here has experience with troubleshooting ps2's? here's my problem:

Ps2 will not read any dvds (movies, games, purple, black, silver) but will read cd games no problem. I tried the laser pot adjustment and it made no difference (could not find a resistance which would resolve the issue). I have cleaned the laser head and the mirror beneath it. I have check the coil's resistances and they check out as well. So without putting much more time into it I purchased a KHS-400c laser from ebay. The previous one was khs-400b, but since there are known issues with the laser burning out I went with 400c seeing as it does work with my console version 35001. I received the laser and first check the resistance pots and I noticed my dvd resistance was down to ~650. I put it in anyway and tried it and I have the exact same issue!

Is there something else that could be causing the issue or am I just unlucky and the guy sent me a bad laser with the same symptoms? Please help.
