Download the client (the client itself is free) and try it on a private server. The game feeling on a priv. server is not the same as on official servers, but you can take a look at the gameplay, graphics etc.
Imo WoW is funny at the beginning, but once you reached the lvl-cap, explored every zone, seen every instance.... the game begins to become very boring. Blizz fucked up WoW with BC. The game is too much raid-laid out. that means there's too much raid content.. and the singleplayer content is very pity. If you dont have enough time to play, you won't come that far. And btw. most of the time the quests are kinda "kill xx of xxx, bring me xx of xxx, get to xx and speak with xxx",.... farm here, farm there.. that sucks. they only made this, because they wanted to force the people to spent a lot of time playing the game (the more you play, the more you get).
And that was the reason i finally stopped playing after 2 wasted years of my time,.
