Leechers

Leechers are screwing up the CO2 forums...

First, by leecher I do not mean site that takes the files from epvp and posts it on theirs, I mean the noobs... no they arn't even noobs..... I mean the people that don't sign up, don't read the posts, they come, they take a bot, they leave.... if they want a bot, they either go to the first topic that has the title of bot is in, and register an account and ask for it(even if it means bumping a 5+ month old topic and/or the question being off topic to the post), or they register an account and post "can sum1 post a DL for dis bot?"....

Whenever you see a topic or a member with 3- posts either post asking for help on a bot, where to find the bot, or anything like that(most of the time the answer is in the first post on that topic, but they don't read it...) chances are it's a leecher... I can point vearous posts of leechers out if you like, but I don't think that's nessary....

So, I think we should have an anti-leech rule with a warning/ban for leechers.... have a pinned topic, or just post it in the rules, for every leecher, they get a instant ban....(we could also state posting a cracked SV will result in a ban too, I don't think that's posted in the rules yet)..

So, can I have some input on this?

PS: Let's see if any leechers post in this topic since I said "Cracked SV" in it

<hr>
EDIT

Ok, I put my other posts in this main thing here, these are my new ideas to stop leechers:

(ty@site) this my idea(s):

1: We have where you need a certain amount of karma to view the other boards, and you must have atleast 50-100 posts to give karma, and also you may only give karma once an hour, and only give karma to the same person once a day

2: Instead of needing karma to view the other boards, you will need to spend your karma to download certain files(not all files) and once again, you need atleast 100ish posts to give karma, and you may only give karma once an hour, and only give karma to the same person once a day

3: 1 warning for posting off topic in a thread!!!!

4: Permission to flame leechers!!!!! I'D LOVE A RULE LIKE THAT!!!!!!!!

Its hard to distinguish who is a leecher and who isn't. Just because a person doesn't post much doens't mean they are a leacher. I've been on these forums for as long as I can remember but I only have like 50 posts. Not everyone can contribute. The whole point is for the few that do know what they are doing to share and teach.

That being said, I completely agree with you. For starters, there should definitely be a minimum post count rule in effect for starting new threads.

Second, the No Questions rule in the other 3 forums should be enforced a little more (although this has been improved greatly recently)

You will never rid yourself of the rediculous questions and noobish posts unless you completely lock the forums, which is not the solution. But these posts can be monitored and stopped by maybe enforcing a few rules.

I can give you some good examples of leechers, it's not that they have a small amount of posts like 20-50 it's more that they have 1-2 posts(let me find some good examples)

i refer leachers to people that make new topics asking for bots when they do not try to use search or just people that want a bot or hack without doing any work and thats why there are not many replys on peoples exelent DIY step by step guides. ex bluezone's speed hack guide and macro express i give him karma for it because it helps the newbs but they dont even spend time reading it

Make levels on the forums nonexistant, in other words, make some unavaliable to access the other 3 forums until they get enough karma

I like ur idea..., thats actually a good idea, but then alot of noobs wld make multiple accts to get karma just so they cld see other forums, wld be kinda pointless after a while =/

I had a great idea which was used on some other boards, a credit system(this is how it will work)

To download a file on this forum you will need say...5 or 10 credits. You can get these credits via posting, creating a new topic, reporting posts.... sure, it will bring in a little bit more spamming, but it would also discourage leechers, and encourage more useful members that are actually willing to give something back, and if they spam, they get banned... and it will also be esayer to catch them because more ppl will be reporting spammer's posts...

I really like this idea, I can even probably find the plugin for the IPB so Epvp can use it

or how about. stop epvpers registration for a few months. prevent epvpers from being viewed wtihout logging in. epvpers loses its name in the conquer community and bam. no more leechers for a while

Actaully..... that is abit crazy, BUT crazy enough to work!!!

Really.... I do like that idea, we can do it for afew months(I still like my credit idea alot too)

Hi,

The Admin and I had a discussion on this topic few months back

1) Post count is not a solution as people may spam.
2) Karma is not a solution as people has multiple accounts to put karma to each other.
3) Stopping the registration is out of question.

DM

I reckon, that you make it so there's a new type of karma

instead called, contribution points

Only mods and members with 20 karma or higher can give you contribution points

The other 3 forums will be unavaliable to members without at least 5 contribution points, lmao

Sorry guys but as you can see I'm not a regular poster on this account, however, this doesnt mean I don't read the forum or try to learn from it and I'm sure there are many like me. I know another person who is overly concious of the fact that his spelling isn't up to scratch so he wont post for fear of being made a mockery of but he does read the forums. There are many other examples that can be given for not posting and we aren't all leechers. I would appreciate it if you just kept this in mind.

Thanks :)

"this doesnt mean I don't read the forum or try to learn from it"

a.k.a. leeching...contributing on the other hand..isn't.

and why would you use a second account? lol thats just plain stupid
