Wie TORlegends. com berichtet, sprach Brown auf einer Konferenz in Boston über BioWares Star Wars-MMO. Die guten Nachrichten zuerst: Es wird wahrscheinlich in den kommenden Monaten eine offene Beta-Phase geben.
Der Release jedoch wird nicht mehr im Frühjahr dieses Jahres stattfinden. Brown sagt deutlich, dass er zwischen April und Dezember 2011 angesetzt, ein Release vor Juli aber mehr als unwahrscheinlich ist.
"It's going to launch sometime in calendar, but not within Fiscal 11. So that basically pens down between, you know, April 1 and December 31 of this calendar year. It's also reasonable to infer that it's not in our Q1 guidance. We gave Q1 Fiscal 11, Fiscal 12 non-gap revenue guidance, -39, -44 cents and I think it's not unreasonable to infer that it's not included in that 90-day period."
Auch zum Bezahlmodell gibt es ein paar Neuigkeiten. So wie es scheint, ist momentan ein normales Abo-Modell geplant. Es wird aber dennoch darüber diskutiert inwieweit Mikrotransaktionen eine Rolle spielen könnten.
"We've talked about going in with a traditional subscription model, which requires the purchase of a PC game client. That's the going-in assumption. But we haven't ruled out, in terms of intent or design, future micro-transactions, because there's some interesting opportunities there"
