How to Customize update.exe

on freewebs i got 3 pages uploaded each control or are fowarded parts of the update.exe i did

[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] is the updates so i can control em myself...its the only .html and i took the real update.html source code n took off everything shaiya

[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] is the page which makes it tell the updater that its up to date lol make sure you check your UpdateVersion.ini of your shaiya folder to see the first 2 lines to change...last one can stay the same

Easier to look for "Update" without "" and scroll up a lil to get to first part
for periods move to the hex part and put 00 in the place of the letters...everything else is done on the side

thats the hex edit part...if done correctly you should be able to use your update n it always say its updated

to make it so it has diff background images requires a different program and knowledge of photoshop and the program..:-)

Get Restuner. Open Updater.exe with the program

Save The image by rightclick>> save resource as>> (filename).bmp on the desktop...open image in photoshop and make changes where u want and resave as .bmp

Double click on the file name in Restuner and on th bottom click replace source and import the image >> click ok

you can modify images 167 through 189 under bitmap folder... i would suggest leaving the bottom 2 alone

Go down to Version foldier...Right click>>edit resource

Double click on the resource you want to change

When all is done go to file>>save file as>>

make sure you do not overwrite the original update.exe or itll screw up n make sure its the same name

The info is not new, but it's good to have a tutorial. 'dudeofthecountry14' are you willing to make *.doc or *.odt file so I can include it in my guide? All credits given.

truthfully i didnt even know there was any guides here...it took me 6 hrs trial and errors (about 20-30 failed update.exe) without finding any guide and doing it myself...i had res tuner because i screwed around with maple story etc n modified their programs so i tested it on this one n it worked lol
heres in in a zip its a .doc...it was 1.32 mb...just a lil over so i ziped it

Hi guys

I fallowed the steps exactly but i get a stupid error "The url does not use a recognized protocol", i think it has smt to do with the hosting server but i`m not sure,anyone got the same error and fix it?

yes, it`s like "http://192.168.1.95" , tried it on mi website "www.xxxx.com" to and now i get "Download failed: Rread Profile C08" and when i search in exe for C08 it says smt about UpdateVersion.ini,guessing can`t read it or smt

Don't forget the "/" at the end.
And.. is your server looking like this?

192.168.1.95/Shaiya/UpdateVersion.ini

well this is getting a lil annoying not to mention embarrassing, my http server indeed looks like this: "http*//192.168.1.95/Shaiya/UpdateVersion.ini & http*//192.168.1.95/Shaiya/Patch/ps0124.patch" but still doesn`t work and the annoying part is that i stiil can`t figure out if it`s the updater or smt on the serer side.

Well... try writing patch with undercase letters. Is everything OK with your CurrentVersion.ini and UpdateVersion.ini?
Can you reach the files from a browser?
