Solution to SV crashing windows explorer!

01/05/2007 23:22 isostar#1
I have cracked version of scriptvessel, but i heard some of those who bought the "original" one, have problems with crashing windows explorer also. My explorer for example crashed when i tried to do the following operations: ctrl+c , ctrl+v, write (for example Start->Search->All Files and Folders-> "then when i started typing it crashed"), when swapping between conquer windows etc.

All that is written below is considered you have scriptvessel already running! If you dont have it running, then no errors will occure and you wont see the changes made when disabling drwtsn32.exe .

This is what you have to do:

Start->Run->regedit->ok

Navigate to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft&#0 92;WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug
Name: Auto
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 disable
Value: 1 enable

The default value under Auto is 1. This means the Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger is enabled. If you put the value under Auto 0, Dr Watson Postmortem Debugger will be disabled and the drwtsn32.exe wont run when the errors occure.

For example, if you navigate again to:

Start->Search->All Files and Folders-> "type something"

There will be somekind of error that pops up and asks you to debug: There is the point where you click OK - to terminate program. If there are more situations where is asks you to debug, you have to terminate debugging. This doesnt solve the problem completely. The windows explorer still "blinks" for a second, but it doesnt freeze for 20 seconds or more! After you use scriptvessel and close it, you can always set the value in the following location back to 1.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft&#0 92;WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug
Name: Auto
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 disable
Value: 1 enable

Disabling drwtsn32.exe sure helped my computer from crashing. I dont know if it will help you too, but i believe it is worth to try it. It actually only takes you 1 minute to try it. If not, you can change the value back to 1.

Then try setting value to 0, then run scriptvessel. I dont know, i said it may not fix your problem, but it fixed mine. I also said my explorer still blinks for a second or 2, but it doesnt freeze for 20 seconds or totally blocks everything.

first of all +k isostar for showing me where to look to solve my problem.
for those of you who don't have any development enviroment with debug functions installed all you have to do is what isostar said.
for the others that have Visual Studio, C#, anything similar to that or you just instaled a custom debuger here is what you have to do:
1)go to start->run->regedit
2)once the registry editor is open go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft&#0 92;WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug
3)go to the line named Debugger, right click and chose Modify
4)select the address and the parameters you find there, right click and cut
5)close the registry editor
6)if you will want in the future to use that debugger paste the cut stuff in a txt file where you can find it later

hope this helps

what about if you get an referenced memory error when u press start?

The error reads:
.................................................. .................................................. ..................................
The instruction at "0x0f1f9245" referenced memory at "0f1f9245". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.
.................................................. .................................................. ...................................
any help with this?

that's the error we were talking about. if you have dr watson active or any programming language/tool that has debug functions active your pc may freeze even for a minute or so. to avoid this you either set that value to 0 in the registry like isostar said or you delete that address like i did. the result will be no more pc freeze, just a flick of the screen. i'll edit my previous post so you can understand better what i'm saying

no, drwatson is the error reporting tool. I had the problem with dr watson but then i turn it off to see what the error is, and the reference memory error is the problem.

And the error appears once i press START, i can not even run it on a conquer screen with f11. lol.
