A Guide to Potency

01/04/2007 20:24 NicholasCobalt#1
This is my guide to Potency. Potency is a very unique level system TQ first developed on Conquer but implemented on various other games. For those of you who do not know what Potency is, it is your relative level.

You Want Potency.
The effects of potency are Serperate from the stat boosts of your items quality composition and the effects of blessed items.

What Affects My Potency?

Your level is your Base Potency.
A level 1 character with no equiptment or with only normal equiptment has 1 Potency.

The Quality of Items Affects Potency.
If the lowest quality of all your items is refined or better, you gain 1 potency.
If the lowest quality of all your items is unique or better, you gain 2 potency.
If the lowest quality of all your items is elite or better, you gain 3 potency.
If the lowest quality of all your items is super or better, you gain 5 potency.

Quality Level Bonus
If all of the items you have equiped are the max for your level, the Quality Potency is Doubled.

The Composition of your Items Affects Potency.
The lowest composition of all your equiped items is added to your potency.
+1 adds 1 Potency, +2 adds 2 Potency, +3 adds 3 Potency and so on up to +9.

Sockets Add Potency
For Trojans, Each Socket beyone the first Four sockets, gives you one Potency.
For Other Classes, Each Socket beyone the first Two sockets, gives you one Potency.

Super Gems Add Potency
For Each Super Gem imbedded in your equiptment, you gain 1 Potency.

Being ReBorn Gives Potency
A Reborn Character of level 70 or higher, gaines 30 percent extra potency.
A Second Reborn Character of level 70 or higher, gaines 50 percent extra potency.

Blessed Items Give Potency
If the lowest Bless on all of your equips is 1 percent, you gain 1 percent Potency.
If the lowest Bless on all of your equips is 3 percent, you gain 3 percent Potency.
If the lowest Bless on all of your equips is 5 percent, you gain 5 percent Potency.
If the lowest Bless on all of your equips is 7 percent, you gain 7 percent Potency.

I Repeat.
You Want Potency.
The effects of potency are Serperate from the stat boosts of your items quality composition and the effects of blessed items.

Here is the link to the EuDemons page, explaining how potency effects that game. EuDemons potency system was taken from conquers, and expanded upon. Note that in EuDemons, Potency is used More than a characters lvl in regard to how powerful they are. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

If the lowest Bless on all of your equips is 7 percent, you gain 7 percent Potency.

Applications.
Using this guide, you can tell which people you have a fair chance of defeating.
A level 70 Trojan with Full Elite equiptment has a potency of 76. He could fight a level 76 Trojan with Full Elite equiptment, except normal -5 blessed necklace, and stand a chance of winning.

After level 130, Potency is the determinate factor in most cases as to who will win.

I hope this guide has helped anyone reading understand more about the game they play, and explains why in some cases an elite +1 dress can cause low level monsters to hit you less than a unique level 70 armor.
hmm i am confused, could you go a little more in depth about what potency does for me and why i want it?

and when you say the determining factor, do you mean in the "top players" section of the site, or just who will win in a fight in game.

because in game, sure there are things that make players better than other because of thier equips, but what your saying is justified without haveing potency at all, and it makes it seem unreliable in my opinion, a thoery.

This is very interesting. I read this elsewhere too, but there was no source mentioned.

What is your source for this information?

Does my edit affect your opinion?

I have other evidence. For example, a level 90 Trojan with full elite +1's, except unique lvl 70 armor, goes to fight some green names and is hit for 50'sl. Same Trojan, Same Equips, Except, elite +1 Dress, same monsters, hits 1's.

If you're in a position you would be able to test this, do it, and reply back here - Please.

I'm not sure how it is used exactly - because I don't have the server side copy of CO 2 to decompile lol - don't we all wish we did.

I do know that originally on Eudemons they stated that the potency system was addapted from other games by TQ and included a link to the conquer mainsite.

I'll try to post screens if I get my hands on enough random items and find a place to test it lol - atm I'm using ref -5 +2, normal -5 and elite +2's... so I'd need to find some rather specific items to complete anything worth mentioning.

Will try though.
