Questions

I was hoping to get some questions answered on CO2 if possible.

What would be the best language to code a CO server?
Visual Basic, C++, C#. I am wanting to know what direction i should be taking to make a more stable server.

What patch should be taken?
I ain't picky but some people hate ninjas some people like ninjas and some people love the old days and some love the new days so what patch would best be picked? 4267+ Patches

Server Auto Leveler
Auto Leveler for server users? I was thinking of making a auto leveler for the server players to use for being AFK leveling or gold farming/cp farming on the server what do you think?

Thanks for reading!

:)

#1: There is very little overall difference between the two languages overall capabilities (certain things are easier in one language but something else is better/more efficient in the other..). C++ has some overall performance advantages but is quite a bit more complicated, less reference material when it comes to pserver coding and in general you will have something up and running FAR faster with C#. That being said, there is a C++ base source released now so that would help you out a ton.

#2: Patch is up to you but my suggestion is go with one of the newer patches and then just disable things you don't want!

Don't want there to be ninjas? Don't allow players to create one then! But being on the newer patches allows you to add other things you might like (arena system, alternate eq, subclass... etc)

Don't limit yourself by using a lower patch unless you are CONFIDENT you want a pure 1.0 server or something.

#3 Stupid idea... If you want your players to be able to level easily then either make it a cmd server so they get stuff instantly or make the rates stupidly high... making a bot for them to use just encourages them NOT to play... I really see NO advantage to it. You do NOT want hacks/bots on your server at all. I've used them plenty on conquer and have no real disdain for them but I would never in a million years allow players to start ruining a server I was running by allowing that kind of behavior.

True!

Yeah i might just do that.
