gem drops

I got a suggestion for some1:

Any able to make gem drops have the sound of a met drop?
Would be easier to find the mets then.

An item notifier would even be better ;)

I tried it myself, but its like a jungle out there.. i have no clue what to look for.
I did find out that the met sound is called : bell.wav
and its stored in conquer2.0\sound (for obvious reasons)

well then just change the gem dropping sound with the bell.wav file and ya got the mets sound

wouldnt it make sense to copy that bell.wav file, and switch it with the gem file, renaming the copy of bell to whatever the gem is? i have yet to find a gem from a monster though, so i am unsure as to whether or not it has its own distinct sound...

wtf?, Im pretty sure it dosnt have a sound?

here, it makes a bunch of other stuff make the Meteor drop sound too..but whatever

extract, put it on your sound folder backup and replace


edit: this replaces the sound that you hear when you drop one, is it different when a monster drops one?

Edit: this is the easy selution... thought about this1 also.
but i thought that wouldnt work cuz like u said: more items will use that sound.
So i searched in all files, searching where the item is linked to the sound.
if i can find that u can alter it to bell.wav and ur done. U can change every single item then.
but i guess this is a start. i can always update it.

anyways: still +k for u, since u tried to help me. and i feel stupid for not doing so myself :ops:

ok that was a stupid question, what i ment to ask is:

"Where is the file that links a drop of a gem with the sound located?"



so that u can change that link and make it link to bell.wav in stead of dropitem.wav
this way, u will keep the dropitem.wav for ur normal ores and items.
and u will change the gem drop sound to met drop sound.

That is what i wanted to know

guys don't bother ... when a gen drops there is no sound ... they may put 1 later but as for now no sound on gem drops its like the other stuff a mob drops except mets and db's

not true!!

i tried it: it makes the sound of an ore being dropped.
but u dun hear it when it drops from a monster cuz the sound of the monster dying is louder.
but try for urself.. pick the gem up, and drop it again... ull hear the sound of ore dropping.

If sounds like a scroll of teleport when a gem drops form a monster
This tool would be very aprreciate if someone find how to do it
