Make sure your files are in the right structure when you combine them. Example if you want to update item.sdata, first make a folder called item, then put the new item.sdata in that folder, and combine. You will then get a data.saf, and data.sah file, change these to update.saf and update.sah. After that use a program to make a zip archive(i use winrar) and zip the files together. Rename the zip file to ps0057.patch(57 being whichever number your patch is) and put that in your patch folder. After that run the updater and it should be fine :)
