Stability isn't what you need to be concerned with when you chose between ini and sql. If you know what you are doing and don't make stupid mistakes NEITHER will have any serious problem. Sql can handle something like 100,000 requests PER SECOND so it's not like you're going to overload it... but people don't code it correctly usually..

Same with flatfile... They are fast and everything and work just fine... but people fuck them up with invalid entries and not letting the server know when the file is in use... basically it's just up to you to make sure that whatever system you use is coded well.

That being said I vastly prefer msql because you can do large changes quite quickly and easily without worries (simply modify the database structure). Flatfile has a speed boost over sql but you won't really notice it.. I mean the amount a pserver will use, sql is more than fast enough.

So yah... up to you but sql is fast, easy and efficient.

I believe that's debatable, even if the difference is minuscule. Flat files may be faster than an SQL database when the amount of files and data is lower, but when it comes to scalability, portability, indexing, or relational models, I believe an SQL database could prove faster and more reliable than flat files. Opinions?
