Do some searching. There is a fairly decent 1.0 source already out there. Cofuture. Note it's not something i'd use for a live server though without some fairly major modifications.

There is a modded version that is 4267 aka CO 1.0

The only thing one would want from that source are the packets, and even those need to be fixed.

By new you mean what?

The client for the 1.0 servers are/will be using will be 5 years old this month.
