DB Failed - Still got a soc

I feel that it is my time to contribute with something to this community, i experienced something wierd a while back..

I bought an elite bag at level 67, decided to make it super, so I tried metting it first (first one worked), the second after I put my DB in and used it, checked my items, noticed that it was still elite..

I took a deep breath, frustrated over the fact that it failed..

Went to market to put it on again, noticed the oh so sweet letters in it:
"Socket 1 gem(s)"

Couldn't believe my eyes, since this was the first socket I ever made.

So basically, what I'm trying to say is that the DB failed, but I still got a soc.. I didn't know this was possible. Would it work with mets aswell?

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

yup same with mets , i got soc boots by failed met!

so we can spam mets on like a L1xx boots or something lol there most likly goin to fail but still cahnce of sockets

i highly doubt it.. i think the met u used got a sock but u simple didnt notice, as for u andy i think u might have got a socket before the one failed

i wasted 3 db i bye 4 db for 20kk and i have i left fore my boot to eliet
to make bag super wast 2 db is it worth it
how long did you guys take to make it super how many met for rob and braslet and cap also boot i like to know this

if i understand u correct you want to know how many mets to up super items?

From 112 - 120 my tao cap took 380 mets before the level for a db came out.
Robe to 120 - 30ish
rest was less than 10 to their respective highest levels.

Sounds to me like you got the sock from metting it and not the db. Seems unlikely that sockets can happen with failures, and everyone who says it has happened to them can never provide a screenshot to back up their tongue.

I'm also wondering why the hell you would met something up first, when you know for a fact that lower level items have a better chance of successful upgrade.

Yeah, I regret that I wasnt able to screenshot it, and I'm pretty damn sure it was the DB, since it said: "As a very lucky person, bla bla got the first socket..", anyways, since I dont have a screenshot of it I dont force you to believe me, but it actually did work..


Reason of why I metted right before is that for me, if first met works, db usually works aswell, thats why..

Ahwell, I was mainly asking if it happened to anyone with mets..

Believe it if you want to, otherwise dont, I just wanted to point out that it actually happened to me..

screenys alwasy help that should be a priority, but yeah you can get a soc while the db/met fails

the first 2soc bag made on my server was from a failed db as well, same method...used 1 met, upped to 37, 1 db to make it uni, tried another db to make it eli...failed but now it said "Socket 2 gem(s)" ;)
