Archer and COPartner

What are the best settings for using COPartner to hunt as an Archer? I would like to be able to hunt from a distance and not get hit.

Is there any settings or a way to make it shoot from a farther distance?

I am a 53 archer and would like to hunt MiniMacaques, but with them hitting me for 100 melee when they get to close I have to carry a lot of potions instead of arrows.

Any suggestions?
