Error when Attaching Databases

Whenever I try attaching the EP4 files to my Database in SMSE, they all fail. Any idea why?

You have to either A) Rename the episode 3 databases Or B) delete the episode 3 databases then you should be able to attach them

I did delete the episode 3 databases. But Prof's guide isn't exactly clear, after I extract his EP4 files, do I delete the EP3 files, then drag the EP4 files into the EP3 folder? Then use those databases?

1 - SHAIYA_SERVER\DATABASE – this is where EP4 database files are. If you wish to keep your EP3, rename the directory with EP4's and copy it to your server dir. Then open SMSE and do this:
- If you wish to leave EP3, rename each PS_****** database to, i.e.: PS_GameDefs_EP3. Otherwise delete them.
- now right click on Databases, select Attach... . Then go to where you copied EP4 db's and add each, one by one. Click ok.
Seems pretty simple to me. simply delete or rename the database.

Alright I know what you're talking about as I resolved that issue awhile back. I understand some parts of most guides here are not clear so I will help you out.

1) You must run SMSE using Window Authentication for that step, not in Server Authentication.
2) While you are in SMSE, click each db and delete them one by one. If an error comes up saying you can't delete because it's running, simply restart SMSE and try again(under Windows Auth). DO NOT delete "System Databases".
3) When all of the ep3 server db are deleted, go to the folder you extracted the ep4 files into. Open the DATABASE folder, select ALL of your databases, copy and paste them into your server files in the same DATABASE folder. Do the same for the backups.
4) Now head back into SMSE, right click on Databases, and attach the dbs from YOUR server files, not the extracted ones. And continue with the guide.

That should resolve any db issues. I personally recommend doing clean installations of everything when setting up these servers. It saves alot of pain in the future.

Sidenote: If you want to keep your ep3 files, rename them as stated in the guide and simply copy/paste your new ep4 dbs into your DATABASE folder and attach them in SMSE.
