Ok first things first you will need the following......

#1 A BRAIN

#2 unknownone's wdf extector [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

#3 A dds converter. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

#4 Photoshop 7.0 (im sure other versions will work but this tut is based on useing ps7.0)

This is from a fresh CO version 3412 install.
Ok now to find all those missing skin files....

Open wdfbatcher.exe
you will now see " /ini/3dtexture.ini " in the parse window.

Change /ini/3dtexture.ini to ..

/ani/control.ani

And extract..

Now extract

/ani/magic.ani

Now...... make a backup of your *****/data/main (this is where we will do the editing so your originals wont get messed up if you completely destroy the ones your working on.)

We will call this folder Backup/data/main

(its also a good idea to make a backup of the original files (people tend to overwrite there originals when installing the newly made skin.))

Open your dds converter and open Backup/data/main
look through the dds files in this folder and delete any that dont belong in the skin. (ie. backgrounds... login screens... server images...)

Now useing your dds converter convert the skin files to a .psd format.

Now open in photoshop " dialogquery.psd " this is tester we will use to see what our skin will look like.

Now go to

image/adjustments/hue

Now in the edit: drop down click the cyan's and blues.. to edit the color of the background to your liking
and edit the yellows to edit your trim to your liking.

once you have what you want.. go to

window/action

Create a new action and redo the actions you took to make the skin the way you want it. when you've finnished remember to click stop.

Close dialogquery.psd and do not save.

Now highlight about 200 of the skin.psd files and drag and drop them into photoshop.

Now go to

file/automate/batch.

In the newly poped up window make sure.
"SET" is set to default actions.atn.
"ACTION" is set to the action you just recorded.
"SOURCE" is set to opened files.
"DESTINATION" is set to save & close.

Then click ok and wait untill photoshop is finnished then load another 200 skin.psd and repeat untill you have done them all.

Now open your dds converter again and convert the .psd files back to dds format

Now put the newly edited dds files back into your *****data/main
folder and restart conquer.

TADA you just made a skin!!!

Hope that this tut helps some people in the graphic editing of CO, I know it would have helped me.

Enjoy
