[ERROR] Mysql can't connect to local Mysql server through socket

I just recently tried to configure a DNS server for MT2.. It came up with this error

ERROR: 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local Mysql server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)

Do I need to do a fresh installation of FBSD?

:S

Thanks.

first try
"cd /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql-server start"
if there is no message, try "cd /usr/local/etc/rd.d/mysql-server forcestart" and then the other command.

If all of this not work, you must deinstall it -> "cd /usr/ports/databases/mysql50-server && make deinstall" "cd ../mysql50-client && make deinstall" "cd ../mysql50-server && make WITH_XCHARSET=all install clean"
If this is done, type this -> 'echo "mysql_enable="YES" >>/etc/rc.conf'
Then try to start

Now it gets stuck on

Perl

then does nothing.. :S
