I need help

Hey, I got a few noob questions about making a p server.

I wish to make a 5065 server first of all, but I know nothing about where to get a clean copy of 5065, and I don't know where to get the server for that. I basicly need something I can start off with.

I have more questions, but first I could use a few comments to get this topic started.

It only shows releases for 5017, 5095, and 5165, but not 5065? :confused:

binary or coemu?

if you need help, i could help you, but first is it binary or a source?

I don't know. A friend recommended binary as a good choice, but whats the difference between source and binary? Is one easier to start off with? Btw, I'm not going to make the server until a few months from now, but I just want to get everything I need, and learn everything, then when I'm ready I'll hire somebody to help me code it since I don't know C#.

binary is not something you self have done and it can never get as many features as a source. Binary is also some leeched stuff, wich means is stealed from tq. A source is not leeched and won't be illegal at that way, it won't be illegal for you to have a source for the server. But for binaries is illegal to just have it, also if you don't use it. Also binaries are all the same, no binary servers have difference, with a source you can customize your server much more. Thats why i would recommend you to a source and learn some c# :)

Oh wow, I didn't know that. That could get a server shut down and get someone in some trouble. I guess it would be better to use a source, but is a source made from scratch, or could there be copies with basic stuff for 5065s out there to start off with. And I doubt I would have the patience to learn C# when I never heard of it before until a few days ago. How long do you say it would take to learn the basics to create a decent server? I really don't catch onto coding very well O-o.

Oh and also, I'm having a hard time finding a 5065 client, but could I just use the latest version of the official co client as of now, then patch it with a 5065 patch, and it will go back? Or do I need to find an older version? Like lets say i get a 5017, then patch it to 5065? I just don't want to use another servers 5065 since there's no knowing what they put on their client.

Yea you can patch it down, but i dont know if it replace the conquer.exe, but i think it does. And if you want to learn c#, then i would recommend you to the CO2 Programming section, there is some guides and links also you could try search at google :)

Let's say I can get all this. And i want to try to make the server alone. I can't get a host yet, and internet isnt any good. Can I host it offline to myself somehow? I heard about this years ago.
