Moderator Application in the Private/Foreign Sro Section

05/02/2010 21:30 Yo123#1
Dear Staff & Community,

due to the huge amount of spam, flame wars, insults and inappropriate behaviour that can be found in parts off the silkroad section, I thought, that a new helping hand is required to calm the situation in there.

And just to say, a post/thank count shouldn't matter for such a position, sometimes i just prefer to be a silent reader. And about my reports: Most things are reported right away, and doing a re-report would just be spam for the moderators, who are snowed under with work already.

*About Me:
My Name is Stephen, I'm 17 years old, i'm 50% German and 50% British.
I love skateboarding, and discussing/talking about thinks, although I love to have some funny convos, as well. Right now I'm living in germany but after finishing my A-Levels i might move to another country.
I'm into MMORPGS since the age of 11 and started silkroad directly when the beta started. I'm a nice guy to talk with, and pretty indulgent, but when it comes to grave things, i can be strict as well.

* Messenger (ICQ/MSN/...):
Icq and Msn, i will give those two to the staff, but right now no release to the public.

*Why do I want to be a moderator?
As I said, the situation inside those sections is pretty bad and there moderation staff isn't big enough to handle this huge amount of spam inside of it.
I think that I could be a helping hand, so that's why I want to be inside the team.
I think being indulgent is pretty important, cause everybody is doing mistakes, so before giving an infraction I do more likely talk to the person, and if he agrees on his mistake and promises to not do it again, I probably wont give an infraction right away. If an important rule(like do not post keyloggers) was broken, or if it happend multiple times, i will give the infraction right away.

* How much experience do you have with the issue of the forum you apply for ?
Pretty much i think, since I'm reading and posting in it quite often, although i sometimes prefer to be a silent reader instead of posting much. I exactly know about what is happening and I also know about the current problems in the community's behaviour(doesn't include everybody, but right now the spam,scam,.... rate is incredibly high).

* Do you have enough time to visit the board about every two days and to put enough effort into the job?

If I'm not on vacation , i do visit the board around 5 hours a day , and yes i think i will put enough effort into it.

* Did you regularly take part in the section before you posted your application?

Compare * How much experience do you have with the issue of the forum you apply for ?

* Are you able to handle questions and questioners of wich you think that they are very stupid?
Yes, because everybody is sometimes kinda newb, and without people helping you couldn't acquire more knowledge. And doesn't everybody ask sometimes a more or less unneccessary/stupid question?;)

* Can you act appropriate/mature with other human beings?

Off course , NOT. Just kidding, yes i do think so, we do live an equal society, so everybody should be treated equally, and i like to treat people nice.
Also religions, skin tone or other stuff shouldn't be a reason to discriminate somebody. All in all there is NOT ONE REASON to discriminate something. Everybody has different points of view, that's what makes us individual and special.
* Did you ever operate as a moderator before?
Yes , on a skateboarding forum, but due to problems with the guy who hosted the server it had to be shut down, sadly. Right now I'm author at silkroad-privatserver.de (still trying to convince mimi to add a backlink to e*pvp:P)

* My personal opinion about thanks count and iTrader rating
About the thankscount:
I personally think that you have to differ when it comes to the thanks count. There are people that do actually release a lot and get tons of thanks for it , or on the other hand, there are people, that do help single persons and get a low thanks count. I personally do count me to the 2nd thing, although i just released my 2nd tutorial (my first just had around 4 thanks so ignore it lol), but it's not for earning thanks, it's for helping the community.
About iTrader//Blackmarket :
I'm not really into account trading, since it's pretty risky, and because i prefer playing chars i made myself. I had 3 trades till now, and 2 were extremely successful (no middleman service used!), but the 3rd one (with hunterpablo) scammed my lv 96 nuker, which might be another point why i dislike it.If you check the rating you will see: "You got it scammed.", which is fully true, because i do trust people, so do I want people to feel about me.

I just wanted to add these due to Keo99's statement.

I hope to get reasoned feedback, kind regards,

Yo123

//edit: added a missing word xD
//another edit: personal opinion about thanks count and itrader added.

You're here for over 2 years and you've got only 509 posts and 144.
Proves something...
For me not active enough, also, low thank count isn't really good.

BTW: You gave me NO because you're applying too?^^
Be honest,please ;)

i gave you a no, because you're here for only 6 months, which is basically nothing.
also when it comes to problems you become pretty impulsive.
And yes i am here for more than 2 years, but my low postcount refers to a preferal of being a silent reader, that doesnt want to conquer any problems. but when i made my first couple of posts i recently become pretty active.(just check the older pages of my posts).
Also the thank count doesnt have to say much. Most people with high thank counts released something like exploits , bugs ,etc , which i personally did not, maybe because i haven't found pretty much exploits yet(0 tbh), nor did i finish any tool yet.(still working on a more advanced psro client, with full graphic menu and internal auto pot).
what i personally did was helping single persons, which is in my opinion actually better.

Pretty impulsive?
You mean that discussion in ZSZC Corrupted GM's thread?
That's the first time I became "impulsive" ^^

Also, you saw any mod which was a silent reader?^^

Mod's job is to help people and keep the forum clean.
So mod needs to be active.

However,if you didn't release any exploits or something and you got high thanks count means that you're REALLY helpful because NOT EVERYONE is thanking,to be honest almost no1...
Only some fair people,that's all.
So if people aren't releasing something like exploits, programs etc and they're helping people with their problems and they've got high thanks count, proves that they're really helpful.

Well,in my opinion 6 months is enough...

would you be angry if i stop this convo now? i want this to be a clean thread.
but just too answer:
-> zszc, that's why.
-> most mods become silent readers when they're getting their positions, i've just been a silent reader in the past, that's why i advised you to check my post history. being a silent reader doesnt mean that you're inactive, it's just more reading+ background action than posting the hell outta it

if you edit something right away the edit wont be shown.

+ do it like haze and read my posts , post by post, then you might see it better. i just prefer stating my opinion once instead of reposting it multiple times.most likely i just continue reading from that point on

Basically it is. He has a VERYYY high post count and he is not spamming, for sure. You're here since 2007 and just few posts and thanks. The Thanks count actually means something: That you can write something that can be useful, that you wrote something smart or that you can help other members.

Anyway...

stephen 4 presi errrr .. mod

In my opinion, the post or thanks count is not that important. Have a look at the posts of him and make your own decision. Quality, not quantity, right?
I personally think he's a nice guy to chat with and I'm sure he will do a great job as a mod.

well keo99, i didnt say he was spamming, and yes since 2007, but i started posting at the end of 2009 , before i just used to be a silent reader, due to the fact that i prefered staying in the back.
about the thanks count: check the thanked posts. i've actually been helping ppl, i just didnt release any tuts or something.personal help is much more worth than releasing something.

why is my iTrader something bad? i'm just not that much into account trading. also it should be @ 2. i had 2 trades that went extremely perfect and my bad rating was for getting scammed by hunterpablo. account trading is simply something really risky, and i personally prefer to not risk something.
