Grand Chase Nova guide

Introduction

The first thing you need to understand to get a grip of nova is that it is a completely different way of play than AR or xbow. It has small similarities to archer, but not many. It has two different ways of double jumping, but no air dash. It has a run, but a very slow run, and because of the fact it has no air dash it cannot do any steps. What is to all other lire jobs a regular dash attack, is to nova what ragna bolt or block is to ronan. It’s down doble can kill you on gorge. As can it’s regular dash attack. To learn how to use nova, you have to be prepared to lose any notions you have of it being similar to the job you used before: It isnt.

Note: This Guide was created by Ferrik of Ntreev forums.

The difference.

The main difference between nova and other lire jobs, is that nova has alot of motion based attacks. Many, many, motion based attacks. And if you miss, all calculations of where you would end will not work. Nova is a dangerous class to use. Nova has rapid fire attacks that can activate berzerk easily, and so many double attacks it’s hard to keep track of them. Once you understand this, it will be much easier to use nova, or at least it was for me.

General playstyles.

Another difference between lire jobs and nova, which is not the avarage lire job, is that nova can be used in three ways. One: stay at the edge and hope your arrows hit. Two: get near enough to make sure you aim right, but not near enough to get hit easily. Three: get up close and personal and hope that you kill them before they kill you, and considering nova’s many melee attacks, it is very possible.

Part one: Basic combos.

Z is the attack button, <>v^ are the arrow keys, {these} indicate when you need to press two buttons at the same time, if you need to hold the previous button while pressing the new one, it shows -this-, _these indicate a bar of mp, if you need to press the buttons really quickly in succession, it shows [{this}], and in repeat cases its *this*

Z Z Z Z Z: combo.
Z-Z Z Z ^: backflip kick. Shoots the target into the air.
Z-Z Z Z v: shadow attack. Try this yourself.
Z-Z Z Z <<: critical.
>> Z: slide. A smaller air launcher.
>>< Z: back shot. The dash attack that you are used to.
^Z: diagonal shot. the jump attack AR and archer have.
^v-Z-: down shot. Similar to AR’s down jump attack.
^ ^ Z: stomp. Same as archers double jump attack.
_: charge shot. The attack you use alot, a good deal of damage and knockdown.
__: blood rain. If you have enough MP to use this, use it under the opponent.
___: burst shot. if you have enough MP to use this, it can kill in one hit. you can also aim, and use it from a good range.

Disclaimer 2: Combining combos.

There are many combo combinations, which you need to know all of to fully take advantage of this guide. This is a kind of disclaimer, by the way.

Part three: Examples.

Z Z Z ^ >> Z: High trip. not many uses, but usefull when you need to get away quickly. PvP.
Z Z Z ^ [{Z^}] Z Z Z Z Z <<: Air pin. usefull in dungeons for the aerial attack, and in pvp for the lack of arrow defense against it. both.
Z Z Z ^ [{>>^Z}] >> Z: flich grab. when someone who has been thrown into the air is hit right while he comes down onto the ground, he has no knock down, just a flinch. this uses four arrows, the backflip kick, and a grab to utilise this.
Z Z Z ^ >> Z: ledge air grab. this is the only air grab nova can do freqnently.
*[{vZ}]*: otto one. this is a difficult, but very fast otto. it needs you to be on the edge of the map, on a platform.
*[{>>^Z}]*: otto two. the easiest, if slowest, otto.
>-*[{Z}]*-: otto three. another fast but diffucult otto, similar to otto one, but it needs to be on a ledge instead of a stage edge.
