[ArchLord] ArchCore & ArchRust Rust Server Emulator and 64-bit Client

Hi everyone!

I've been working on ArchCore, an independent ArchLord server emulator, alongside ArchRust, a new 64-bit client reimplementation. Both projects are being developed in Rust, with the goal of rebuilding the infrastructure needed to run ArchLord using a modern codebase.

ArchCore — Server Emulator

The server focuses on reproducing the original game's network protocol and server-side systems. Development includes protocol reverse engineering, authentication, character management, database integration, and world initialization.

ArchRust — 64-bit Client

The client is being developed from scratch in Rust, using wgpu for rendering and egui for UI. Work includes reverse engineering and loading original game resources, 3D models, textures, terrain, networking, Lua AddOns, and custom HD patches.

Current Status

Authentication, character selection, and entering the game world have been implemented. Basic player movement and visibility between multiple clients have also been tested.

The project remains a work in progress. Many gameplay systems, including combat, skills, items, and NPC interactions, still need further development.

I'm sharing this project with community to document progress and connect with people interested in ArchLord, Rust development, reverse engineering, and game preservation.

Technical feedback and contributions are welcome!

Can you add a 'How to contribute' section on gh? I am senior dev with 0 knowledge in Rust, but good thing is that Fable knows a lot about it

That's a good suggestion, thanks! I'll add a How to Contribute section to the GitHub repository.

Rust knowledge isn't necessarily required for every contribution. Help with protocol research, reverse engineering, testing, documentation, architecture, and gameplay systems would all be valuable.

If you and Fable are interested in contributing, I'd be happy to discuss how we can organize the work and split tasks according to everyone's strengths.
