Silkroad Without Bots?

Hey everyone:pimp:

I'm working on a Silkroad project and would love to hear your thoughts on something.

One of Silkroad's biggest issues has always been grinding. We all enjoy leveling up, getting stronger, and improving our gear, but spending hundreds of hours killing the same mobs gets repetitive. It's probably one of the main reasons botting became so common.

So I'm curious:

- Do you actually enjoy grinding, or is it just something you want to skip?
- What would make leveling fun enough that you wouldn't want to use a bot?
- Would you prefer grinding, quests, party activities, or a mix?
- What would you change about Silkroad's progression system?

I don't think grinding should disappear completely. It's part of what makes Silkroad special. But I believe the journey should be just as enjoyable as reaching max level.

How would you make Silkroad fun to actually play instead of botting through it?

Looking forward to hearing your ideas! :)

I mean, when I started iSRO back in what, late 2006-2007, I must've been around the age of 12 at most, zero commitments, no job, no children, no partner, no house, so I had all the free-time to hand grind in the world.

Fast forward to now, almost nearing 30, a job, a house, daughters, I simply don't have the time to hand-grind, and doing so with my life routine would put me at a significant disadvantage against other people who have the free 7,8+ hours per day to grind themselves.

Personally, I much prefer party activities than solo. Questing to kill 300 White Tigers isn't fun at all, but being involved with a party, whether it be grinding, uniques, make it feel more 'homely', if that makes sense.

Probably attempt a way to incentivise hand grinding. Whether it be a tracking system which counts how much time you've spent hand-grinding with a daily quest system (30 minutes, 60 minutes, 2 hours, 3, 4) giving rewards each time you hit the markers, resetting at midnight each day. Or, a built in macro, which also tracks minutes spent handgrinding. For every one hour you hand-grind, accumulates X amount of minutes on the in-game macro, allowing you to save and use your bot as you see fit, but with caution due to having to accumulate the minutes again.

Really appreciate the detailed feedback, bro! 😄

You made some great points, especially about how most of us grew up with Silkroad and simply don't have the same free time anymore.

I totally agree that party activities and playing together should be more rewarding than just killing the same mobs for hours.

Your ideas about rewarding hand grinding and earning limited auto-grinding time are really interesting too. I've noted them down and will definitely keep them in mind as we work on the progression system.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts. This is exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for! 👊
