How would i prevent duplicates? How would i check it IN C#

duplicate entry's usually happen in an INSERT statement. therefore you need to put ifs before executing INSERT statement.

anyway, duplicate entry's can be avoided also if you had set a primary/unique key on the database table definition....

Yah, just do a simple bool for if a value already exists in the specified database. That way you can check if it already exists and if so return to the client that the required db function couldn't be completed, if not it will go ahead and complete the database function properly.
