Question about EAC HWID Ban and Buying a New PC

Hi everyone,

I have a question for people who are familiar with Easy Anti-Cheat, HWID bans, or Rust's anti-cheat system.

I'm planning to buy a completely new PC, mainly because I want better performance in Rust. My current PC is associated with an EAC/Game Ban, and as far as I understand, it also has a hardware (HWID) ban.

I have no intention of cheating further on. I just want to understand how the system works in a legitimate situation.

If I buy a completely new PC, change my IP address and start playing normally without any cheats or suspicious software, is that generally enough, or is there still a risk that the new hardware could somehow be affected because of the previous ban? Also I use 2 monitors, do I have to change them as well, because this will cause a lot of drama only for Rust lmao.

One more question I have is about my Steam accounts. I still own a lot of games on my original Steam account, so I'd like to continue using it for games like CS2 or other titles that aren't related to Rust or EAC. If I buy a new PC, would it generally be considered safe to use my original Steam account for those games while using a separate Steam account for Rust, or could simply logging into the old account create issues? I just want to understand how this works from a technical perspective before I buy new hardware.

I'm only looking for technical information from people who actually understand how EAC works or have experience with similar situations. Thanks!

VERY good questions - one of the better ones I see in a while. You're cautious, good.

About your previous machine, that's generally considered fine. EAC does query monitors, so be aware of that fact. Same goes for ARP (your router) - those two combined could cause a flag, but shouldn't result in a HWID ban on your new machine. This is a warning. Do with it whatever you want.

Your old Steam account won't cause EAC HWID ban issues, but will cause server bans. Server admins can potentially trace that back and flag you EAC-wise as well. If you logged into your old Steam on your new machine, they can trace the ban if you're not careful. IP plays a role too.

First, when it comes to the peripherals, do you think I also need to replace my monitors, or are they generally irrelevant in this situation? And also do I have to boot up any VPN services even though IP will be changed since it's dynamic.

Second, let's say I buy a completely new PC. Would it generally be okay to keep using my original Steam account for games like CS2 and other non-EAC titles, while using a separate Steam account only for Rust on the same PC? Or could simply having both Steam accounts logged into the same computer potentially cause issues? Technically it's a new IP, I haven't received community server bans, only EAC. I don't know whether they can track if I logged onto different steam accounts lol

Peripherals won't get you banned, so there's no need to change them.

Change your IP or use a VPN.

As long as you don't download or update Rust on that account, you won't have any issues. You can keep playing your old games on that account.

What exactly do you mean by downloading on that account? Since both accounts have Rust on it I suppose it will be downloaded for both, isn't that right? For the update part I suppose I can just turn off automatic updates for my old account(the eac banned one), and manually update only on my new account (clean). Correct me if I'm wrong, and many thanks for helping me out with this :)

Yes, you can turn off automatic updates and download them manually; you can continue playing other games on your banned account.

I would highly recommend not logging into that account that will probably not get you banned on the new account but if you don’t use a vpn every time and turn if off to use that acc or soemthing like that this will most likely result in a ban on a lot of servers. Just keep the second pc to play other games on
