California Gold Rush Survival FPS "The Legend of California" Announced

If you are a fan of open-world survival crafters, it looks like the Wild West is the new hot setting. Announced just today, publisher Dreamhaven and developer Kintsugiyama have revealed The Legend of California, a brand-new multiplayer FPS survival game.

The game is officially slated to hit PC via Early Access sometime later in 2026.

What is The Legend of California?

Set during the iconic California Gold Rush era, players are dropped into a massive, untamed frontier. Your goal isn't just to survive the harsh wilderness, but to build an empire and thrive.

Here is a breakdown of the key features promised for Early Access:

• A Changing Frontier: Explore a vast, evolving open world featuring diverse Californian biomes, landmarks, and challenging PvE encounters.
• FPS Combat: A skill-based first-person shooter system. You will need to hunt wildlife for food, clear out enemy bandit camps for quick cash, and defend your claim against others in optional PvP.
• Ranch Building: You don't just build a wooden shack. You can establish and expand a full-scale ranch, complete with operational mines, horse stables, and advanced crafting stations.
• Online Co-op: The game runs on persistent multiplayer servers. You can try to survive as a lone wolf or form a company with up to three other friends (4-player co-op) to share resources, bases, and progression.

Between this and Frontier Legends which had its demo last month, fans of Western survival games are going to have a lot of options this year.
