As a developer, I made the mistake of trying to save work by buying a source code.
Big mistake.
I bought a code for an external Apex base from a Discord store with over 8,000 users. After paying, I was automatically ignored and two weeks later I was banned from the server.
What am I looking for with this post? Clearly, it was my mistake to think the server was legitimate.
Because I thought it was legitimate, the server had a voucher channel, but they were all clearly fake.
It had over 8,000 members.
It had legitimate free sources.
It had over 200 boosts on the server.
I don't know how many people were scammed by this person. I ran a test from a secondary Discord account to verify that he was ignoring me, and that's indeed what happened. Even when I told him to buy, he quickly sent the links.
What is this scammer's modus operandi?
He won't look for you if you stumble upon his server, probably because someone passed it on to you. I'm guessing you'll be interested in one of the sources this fake developer offers. Once you contact him through his Discord channel, he'll tell you the price. If you hesitate, he'll launch a 50% discount ad to try to convince you.
Finally, after paying, he'll ignore you.
It's ugly to have to do this, but I don't want more people or developers to lose money trying to buy services or products.
Clearly, if the seller only accepts payments in crypto, there's something fishy about it. If the store doesn't have a general channel for users, there's something fishy about it. If the vouchers are screenshots posted by the server owner, consider it fishy. If, by chance, when you go to buy something, he lowers the price, consider that fishy.
Only buy from stores that have an open community and uncensored chats, where you can see real vouchers created by users.
