Some thoughts on the future of pixel rotation bots

Later this year, many pixel bots will likely die out due to API restrictions to combat log and auras, as many bots read the API and expose that data on the screen as 'pixels'. The Hekili devs have even reported they know the writing is on the wall.

I think the easiest way going forward is to capture data from highlight assist, but I'm not sure if there is an API for it yet. Since it doesn't accommodate cooldowns, the bot would need to check the status of cooldowns and inject them into the rotation. I'm not even sure if addons will have access to your buffs and debuffs going forward. It's a curious time, indeed. Has anyone else thought about this?

One more question I have, is, how does GGLoader operate? I can't find any info on the basics of the setup. I'm just wondering, do they use an addon that exposes info on the screen, or do they just 'read' the screen? I'm thinking of buying it, but I'm not going to buy it if its obsolete in a quarter or two.

They're not going to die out. Multiple Pixels already have alternative solutions should this actually happen.

Bots are a very lucrative business they have and always will find a way to adapt. As far as ggl goes they have two different bots one of them may be impacted but the other will continue to fuction with any changes.

My bad, I didn't mean to say that pixel bots would die out. I really meant that bots that relied on addons like Hekili would need to be rewritten, and that there 'might' be more of a barrier to entry to getting them in place. The Hekili devs all seem to think that their addon won't survive once Blizzard shuts down access to combat logs and auras. Obviously, no one quite knows what that future will look like, but it just might mean using the in-game API to grab data points and translate them to something a pixel bot might consume might no longer be possible.

It seems like the new highlight assist has an API, so some folks will probably pipe data from that into a new solution. There are definitely options.

What do you consider the best pvp pixel bot at this moment? Still GGLoader?
