WARNING for people ban evading with dynamic IP. (rust)

if your using A dynamic Ip change to ban evade on servers in rust, and even if you are given a completely different ip from your last, your GEO location stays the exact same. meaning admins can still track you even if you've done everything right. using websites like this

however, this isn't 100% accurate, because most ISP'S use common geo locations. but if you ban evade on a fresh account on the same server within 3 days, its easy to tell your the same person.

the only way to get around this would be to not rejoin servers you've recently been banned on, and avoid using fresh accounts.

just wanted to share, leave any thoughts you have in the replies. :)

The geolocation is generalized and based on the IP ranges not your individual IP.
This is entirely useless for admins.
They may examine the SWIP to determine who owns or leases the IP range. Even if the ASN is owned by a large ISP, it's possible that your IPs are from a smaller ISP leasing from the larger one, making it easier to trace you since you might be the only one on the server using this smaller ISP.

Rust And Fortnite now started banning entire ip range that you can get, in case of IP-RESET, try to get a ip that is far from your last ban ip location, that works, or you can use a decent VPN to get rid of that problem entirely.

Sounds like copium, IP is not significant evidence for cheating.

Also if they even ban IP or flag an IP it cant be more then for a few days at most

Camomo_10 uses this kind of geolocation data.
You can determine a rough location from an IP addres not the precise home address of the router, but typically a small town or a specific area within a larger city.

its statistically unlikely that someone else logs in 20 minutes later from the exact same location unless its the same person using a different account.

Even if someones IP address changes like with a dynamic IP from their ISP the geolocation remains the same.

Well from what I have been able to gather of information, the IP ranges can have 1000*s if not 10000's ips on the same range, if people wait a week or couple of weeks after getting banned from one of these servers and instead play other servers with their new accounts, they should be fine as the data of ban is so old at that point that's it's very possible to be a new player playing from one of these IP ranges.

Even if there is just 1 or 2 other legit players playing fron the same ip range, it would in theory be enough to "mask/hide" between those as they could have gotten a new ip from their ISP of changed router, pc, or have unstable electricity etc.

IP ranges depend on the subnet mask used:

/32 = 1 IP
/30 = 4 IPs
/29 = 8 IPs
/28 = 16 IPs
/27 = 32 IPs
/24 = 256 IPs
/23 = 512 IPs
/22 = 1,024 IPs
/21 = 2,048 IPs
/20 = 4,096 IPs
/19 = 8,192 IPs
/18 = 16,384 IPs
/17 = 32,768 IPs
/16 = 65,536 IPs
/12 = 1,048,576 IPs
/8 = 16,777,216 IPs

So yea, banning an IP range is extremely prone to false positives. EAC and Fortnite do not ban IP ranges for this reason. In Rust, some server admins might manually block and/or compare small ranges if they're chasing someone specific, but that's not the same as anti-cheat-level detection.

Exactly, that's why i think it would be very unlikely that if you wait a week or two, they won't be able to find you even if you are on the same IP range, as it's more than likely that it's a new player after a week or even some days that is joining the same community server.

Modded servers wouldn't care, if ur IP has previous bans they will most likely ban you no matter what.

Modded / Community servers are cringe like that

Well modded/community servers don't ban people without any proof, they don't just ban people for being good, other wise they wouldn't have a players base.

But ofc the more steps people take to make sure all traces of previous bans are cleared, the better their chances of ban evading is.

That is absolute nonsense, I didn't always use to cheat. I had 19,000 hours total legit in Rust and my Main account was banned on most modded servers.

That is why I only use to play Facepunch and still is to this day.

All of this proves nothing, i don't believe people are getting banned if they are legit and just good at the game, and i think it will be very hard to prove otherwise. (Ofc there will be edge cases, but im talking in general)
