How do I start up a client without patching it up?

hey I used to be able to just flip off my wifi and start up a client to skip over autopatching by bypassing it but this doesn't work anymore. What can I do now?

Create shortcut from Conquer.exe and add to target : blacknull after the last "

Download the free version of BCO proxy and set it up, just go through the "start conquer" button that bypasses the patches.

I'm pretty sure when you hit that button, it hooks the Conquer client, injects a dll and reroutes the Conquer connections towards their proxy. Which would mean if he tries to use that Conquer client, then it will not connect to the Conquer auth/game servers.

I think Matt and John said that the only internet connection the proxy uses is through the chatroom, the login and the Proxy updates. But I usually never connect to CO through the normal shortcut, but rather through the proxy button. And just yesterday I went straight to CO and it tried to autopatch but I declined because I wasn't connected to the internet. I have since used the Proxy button to start CO and it hasn't asked me to autopatch and I still play CO just fine. But I could be mistaken.

I found a simpler method. Downloaded the patch for 5220 downloaded the 5221+ multiclient and after getting that all set up changed version.dat to 5229 xD

Code:
"C:\Program Files\Conquer 2.0\conquer.exe" blacknull
press enter

Why not simply just run the autopatch.exe?

blacknull the client using a shortcut, something like what Warlax posted

Just create a shortcut to conquer.exe and add blacknull to the "Target" field in the shortcut properties like this.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

Or you can open up version.dat in notepad and change the version number to the latest version and save it, this way it won't patch if you run autopatch.exe thinking you have the latest version.
