From my experience this is not the case.
There are far too many items that you can ONLY get from the IM with quite significant prices on them too.
I'd happily grind for the IM items if I could. But sadly you cannot. Not to mention the FEW that you can grind for, you can't do so early on, therefore you suffer the entire way until you're late enough in the server to grind for them. That prolonged suffering is crucial though, it directs people to go to the IM and purchase things. E.g. I'm EC12, by this point, I'd love to have a +7 weapon at least, but alas, I cannot yet create tears/scales so attempting it is super risky, and getting a replacement weapon involves getting another character to EC12 to get their dragon statues/upgrades from the collectibles section. This majorly favors the paying player.
As for autobot, I agree with you there, the autobot feels like a solution to a problem that shouldn't exist. Very very grindy, though, they did state that a disclaimer, so can't say you weren't warned for it being super grindy :D
Few Example of things you can't get in game and are IM exclusive (or traded from other players):
- (NEW) Premium
- Loot/Treasure boxes
- (Your only option for the jades to add extra accessory slots... except for iirc yellow jade, which seems to be the only one you can farm ages for, or purchase for the cheap price of around 15 euros)
- Illusive branches
- 4th/5th bags
- +1/+2 ref removal scrolls (though I may be wrong there)
- Ornament removal tools
The thing that rubs me the wrong way slightly, is when they advertise +50% bonus credit, yet usually, the 5, 10, 20 and sometimes the 30 euro packages are excluded from the event, meaning you have to be dropping a large lumpsome for that bonus credit. If you're a low-roller, RIP BOZO.
As for adding credit, you're not allowed to add credit using paypal, and not being funny, I'm not giving ANY private server my card details, I'd rather create a disposable virtual card and destroy it as soon as the purchase is complete than hand over my card details to any private server. Though, I can't create such virtual cards with my banking provider just yet, soon though! Maybe then I might consider adding some credit. - Though they'd have to be comfortable with a fake address in my country as I'm definitely not forking my exact house address over for a private server.... They can have the address of one of the mayors maybe.
Not to throw shade or anything, it's just, there's no guarantee as to whether or not that data is being collected or disposed of after the payment completes, and if collected is: it encrypted, stored raw. Not to imply any wrongdoings, but we frequently hear about data being leaked or lost these days. I'd simply rather not risk it.
I always use paypal where I can for most services, hell I did so with steam for the longest time.
