cerb bans/temp bans

Hey everyone, opening this thread cus i got a small issue. I got Game Banned on rust after like 45hrs (completely fresh account), i was basically raging the whole time on a facepunch server, so i probably got spectated by staff, which caused this ban. However my question concerns my next ban on a new account, which is a temporary (7d) gameban.

So i manually spoofed, revo uninstalled rust, the only things i didnt spoof/change were my nvme ssd and my IP. I also stayed away from facepunch servers. however i got that 7d temporary gameban after around 35hrs this time. My settings were very low (im on AtomicDMA), i wasn't blatant, did a bit of killing but i died a lot too. But at some point i killed a team of 3 and they literally all reported me, i got banned around 30 minutes after.

So my question is, what caused this temporary ban? I doubt JUST the reports mattered here, else legit players that are naturally good at FPS games would get banned all the time after a report. Could it just be because my account was already flagged cus of those 2 things i didnt spoof? If so, would i just get banned again after my 7d expire?

Basically im just wondering if my account is basically cucked forever or if ill be able to play just fine after the ban expire, or can i save it somehow if i use a good spoofer and vpn?

Well, first of all, not changing/"spoofing" (VPN) your IP is a direct link back to you that even server admins can track with ease. Not spoofing disk probably also flagged you so reports might have started to matter, not considering the fact that you were also on a new account.

Things I did when I got banned and have been playing for 500+ hours on new account:

- Changed IP via DHCP lease release (or MAC address clone, either way works)
- Reported.lol temporary spoofer
- Played legit with cheese from the very beginning (and I still do), do not rage, if your account has low hours, you CANNOT play like you know what you are doing/killing teams of three or more solo, etc.

i see, however i dont think i can change my IP since i have a static IP address, pretty sure i'd have to call my ISP for that. Is there a point in spoofing anymore for that account since i already got temp banned once on it? im guessing its already flagged no?

edit : nevermind, my ip did in fact change since my ban, so it cant be related to my IP. yeah im pretty sure its my playstyle + low hours. if it was linked to my hwid i see no reasons why i wouldnt be banned already. ill just try playing passively when i get unbanned n see what happens :)

Would not use the temp banned account anymore rather throw that in the bin as they end up in a perm ban right after the temp one expires anyways. Imo the main parts that got you banned are 1.) The completely new account 2.) The not spoofed nvme. Exception or Reported both work great for that.

Repeated bans indicates that you've failed spoofing something or something has been left out. IP in your case could matter as it is in fact an official server. Server admins goes hard on IP, but EAC generally does not. However, the most critical flaw in your attempt is likely the disk, disk is something EAC treasures above all. You simply cannot leave disk unspoofed and expect to bypass an HWID ban.

TLDR; Always ensure isolated testing when troubleshooting. This means disconnecting any third-party hardware (e.g., KMBox, DMA devices) before launching the game to test for bans. Eliminate all potential factors first, then reintroduce them one at a time to find the root of the problem.

hm i see but wouldn't an HWID ban get me instantly perma banned after 2 hours? this is my first offense (that 7d temp ban is my second)

Yes, a perm ban within the 0–120 minute timeframe is generally the rule of thumb for hwid bans. However, there are variations in how these bans work, and the "rules" can change at any time. E.g: we've seen temporary bans caused by improper mapping, TPM, driver traces, poor spoofing methods (e.g., CRU, TMAC, etc.), or general flags. It really depends on the specific violations you're triggering, which, as you can see, clearly aren't "severe" enough to result in a perm ban... for now at least?

That said, if you're leaving the disk unspoofed, that's a significant problem right off the bat, as disk identifiers are extremely critical. Can you describe your manual spoofing process? Honestly, if you're not spoofing the disk, I’d recommend not spoofing at all.

There is only "so much" I can say about your cause as I'm only reading what you describe and making an educated guess based on that. Isolated testing is the only way forward in these cases. Good luck

well i guess the best solution is trial and error, ill just see if i get banned again after the temp ban, if i do then ill spoof properly etc and see what happens on a new account, but tbh im almost certain the ban is just caused by suspicious gameplay

The primary purpose of Cerberus is to send a massive amount of variables to the server, which are then analyzed and calculated server-side to determine whether your hits and/or kills, appear human or not. This is indeed correct...

However, temporary bans aren't always related to Cerberus. They can also be triggered by other factors, as I explained above. These are edge cases, and unless you're a developer who has extensively tested for them, it's unlikely you'd know about them.

Atomic dma is detected, aswell as if u juse the shock firmware. Pm me for proof. I've had multiple friends getting banned in rust. Playing for 10 hours without dma or anything and no ban, after loading dma they stayed afk for 1 hour and were game banned :joy

I dont know where you have that information from. I've recently played a whole wipe with atomic and was just fine. Shocks a great guy too never had ANY issue with his fw whatsoever and if you do, I'm sure hes happy offering you support.
