Spoofing Questions

Hello, I'm in a bit of an unusual situation and hopefully someone will have some answers for me.

My account info was likely phished one way or another, my account was acquired by someone out of china and they cheated on Rust which got me banned. I have confirmed I am HWID banned (bought $10 account, logged in with VPN, was game banned on that account after an hour).

So now I have to basically cheat by spoofing to play the game again.

I am looking into buying a spoofer but I have some questions:

1. If I spoof my HWID to play Rust again on a new account, and I only play Rust on that account while the HWID is spoofed, is there any possible way that my main account can be "linked" to the alt account (assuming I am always using a VPN, my phone number isn't linked, and my HWID is spoofed)?

I have read a lot of threads here trying to gather info but I seem to be getting conflicting answers. I have already reinstalled windows so its basically a blank slate for me.

2. Some threads say to NEVER log onto main account as long as you are cheating- why? If the alt account is completely isolated and spoofed and the main account can't play that game anyway, why does it matter if I switch accounts to play other games?

I'm really just trying to understand everything, this is all new territory for me, I don't cheat and it sucks that I have to resort to this just to play my favorite game again.

You would never get hwid banned for logging in to an already banned accont. The only hwid that gets bannd would be the one in use when the user is caught and banned for cheating.

If you're talking about EAC, then no. If you're talking about local server admins then yes, they have an array of tools to link you back to your old accounts. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] is a good source if you want to know more.

Keep in mind that once you launch a cheat on your computer, you cannot be certain what changes it has made to your operating system. It might leave behind traces that could lead to bans in other games and potentially compromise your main account if you log in and the modifications and/or traces it left beheind gets detected, even if the cheat isn't loaded. As long as you're using the same OS installation and/or computer, you are not isolated from these risks.

There is (in my experience) no issue logging back into your main steam account to play other games. I've done the same and have pushed 500+ hours on a fresh account with Rust only on it to date.

There are, however, a few things I do just for the sake of not taking any risks:

When logging into main account:
- Delete the following registry keys/folders (open regedit to access those)
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Valve
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Facepunch

- Delete userdata folder in Steam %appdata%

When logging into Rust Alt:
- Delete userdata folder in Steam %appdata%
