Performance could be due to CR3 if its lagging badly? Otherwise maybe just poor optimization.

Did you check Xenos thread for other providers you didn't try yet?

it very hard to find decent dev to work on it

Are you aware of Mason, it's touted but it's one of the best in my opinion and it requires the use of dma
