Moderator Application - World of Warcraft

Dear Administration and Community,

My name is Tamed Beast (not using my name publically for obvious reasons). I'm applying for moderator for the World of Warcraft section of the forums.

My experience with the sections' topics:

I'm a long-time user and enjoyer of the World of Warcraft section of the forum, I have dedicated many years to this part of the forum, helping and assisting other users. I not only have a passion for the forums, but I also have a passion for the game itself, should it be coding, information guides, or helping users find the right applications for their goals, I've done it all when it comes to World of Warcraft. I believe with my experience and reputation in this community I would become a great asset to the World of Warcraft Section.

Why I am the right candidate:

I like to consider my judgment and character excellent and believe that I'm the right person to maintain this category and ensure that all rules and forum cleanliness align with EPVP's rules and regulations.

Big vouch for Tamedbeast. He's a familiar face in every World of Warcraft community I've been part of. His expertise in chairs and the game itself is extensive. Whenever I've reached out to him for advice, he's been consistently quick and upfront with his responses. It's not uncommon to see his responses on nearly every post in this section, earning him a solid reputation in the chair community. His dedication and patience towards the game and this community really shows.

Adding Tamed Beast as a moderator for WoW is a no-brainer. They are extremely active in many communities, and I've never once seen them steer anyone in the wrong direction. Do yourselves a favor and make this happen.

Vouch for tamedbeast. It's obvious that he should be accepted as a moderator as he is a well known figure here in the community.

I rarely post anything here, but I'll make an exception for tamedbeast. He is very active on the WoW forums and is well-known in the community. He has helped many people, including me. Thanks, tamedbeast.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to say no.

First, I don't believe the WoW section is active enough to necessitate a specific moderator for outside of the market. Even though it could use some cleaning up, the existing market team (Icetea, Hughjanus, Gipha, Crowley) should be more than enough to manage it.

Next, if you look at any of the "[Unofficial] List of Legit / Scam Cheat Providers lists," you will see that all of the discussions are done in public, which is to hold the authors of those lists accountable from potential biases. Your thread - [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] is essentially the same as these lists, and from a risk assessment point of view, is concerning.

There's a significant lack of transparency related to your interactions in this thread. As a regular user, the tendency to primarily direct other members to your DMs for recommendations, instead of discussing them openly, poses considerable concerns as it reduces accountability and increases the chance for abuse.

I think this behavior alone should temporarily prevent you from being considered for a moderator position. By moving discussions, especially those with a financial stake (consumer buying product), to DMs, you've taken away the community's opportunity to self-regulate and address any potential biases you might have. This is a problem because it suggests the possibility of leveraging a future staff position for personal gain (pay for review), which would harm EPvP.

While I respect you have the right you an opinion, you're opinion is very inaccurate. I do not shill, or have any bias towards any one person on this forum. I think your problem with me is the fact that I will not hold a bias as you do for GGL. My opinions don't align with yours which is fine, and it's been very evident that your connection to GGL is well beyond just a user, and your determination to convince users to use one said platform shows the bais, while I offer and recommend several different platforms regardless of their ability to maintain updates.

I know the only reason you decided to chime in on this, is because I don't have the same passion to shill for one product (GGL) like yourself.

On a second note, if I can help users find something that suits their needs from the messages that they send me, I have helped the forums greatly, most of these users return to the forums and frequent them afterward due to that trust factor. In fact, my forum post is one of the top five viewed and active posts of all time on Epvp in the World of Warcraft section, I have likely brought hundreds if not thousands of new members to this forum from external sources such as Google search results just from my posts alone.

My takeaway from your reply was that you're worried I would use my leverage with epvp moderator status to attack your beloved GGL, and I can simply say now, I don't need a moderator status to do such a thing and still have the same effect due to my trust factor with users on the forums and off the forums. If you want my opinion to change on a product, you should ask your friends over at GGL to fix their products and update them. I'm sure if I had a bias for your friends you would love to recommend me :D

Edit: The World of Warcraft Pixel Bot Review thread has changed several times, some things are recommended over others based on their current development cycle and changes to their platform that make them more or less of a viable solution for users. Even if there is something I don't recommend but I see it suits what they're looking for I would still suggest it.

They are literally looking for Mods for the WoW section.
So it doesn't matter if you think that section needs a mod or not, lol.
